"Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you". Paul's emphasis on accurate self-assessment is critically important for personal growth.

I live alone Holly, out of choice too after being in a very long relationship. I've loved getting to know myself, the good bits and not so good! I never really thought much of myself in my younger days, but after living alone for the last 10yrs I actually love who I am now! Sometimes you just need the solitude to really begin to know and love yourself. Such a lovely thought provoking video for people that might need this 💖

You accomplished so much at this age already. I’m 59 and still hate myself and a lot of the decisions I make, so I hide in a book or keep busy just not to think about everything. You made it absolutely clear in this video how to deal with yourself and I hope that one day I will be able to get comfortable with myself. Thanks…I look up to you 😊

Thank you for your comment, I’m sadden to hear you feel that way as you definitely deserve nothing but the best and are worthy of so much! These things take time and effort to overcome though so don’t be too hard on yourself for feeling this way at times. Be kind to yourself and realise no one is perfect and nor should they want to be - it’s what makes life exciting having imperfections and space to always grow!☺️ Wishing you the best, take care✨

What a lovely and honest video Holly. When you said about not being born with this mentality I did want to add a little spin on that I’ve heard before, the notion that when a baby is born it has full self worth and doesn’t worry about annoying people or have criticisms of itself, like for example it will cry when it wants something, it will sleep when it wants, etc. and that it is society or poor life circumstances that has taught us (sadly often from a young age) that we do not have worth or that it must be achieved or to love ourselves it is indulgent or big headed. Just a little thought. I loved what you said about the conversation with yourself, finding what you like. I’m a believer if you can be your own best friend then you’ll know you’ll always have someone, it is a process I am very much still working on. Lovely video, and ps the bread rolls look (and sound!) delicious, it reminded me of myself when I have to tuck bowls of proving dough next to the radiator! :)

Thank you for your comment and very interesting perspective here, I really enjoyed reading. I do agree that our environment is a significant contribution to the way we view ourselves and the perspectives we form but I do believe we can combat this by turning inwards and utilising self awareness to form our own judgements that better serve us✨ A great perspective though and one that rings very true! Thank you for sharing this and watching☺️🫶
@hanchad7 ай бұрын
@@lagomholly oh yes definitely! I agree that it is a case of relearning (if we have been made to believe we are unworthy for whatever reason) that we do have worth and can love ourselves. It’s having the awareness as you said and then taking steps to cultivating self love again! :)

I've never really thought of it as a self-relationship. I would just say, it's important to feel comfortable with yourself, just as animals are relaxed with themselves, not being so self-aware and self-conscious and instead, being at ease with yourself. It's hard, because you want to carry out certain actions that are predetermined and other times you want yo just go with the flow and not think too much on it. Perhaps a combination of both where you plan on what you want to do for yourself and then just go with it and let it happen, might be good. Good video, thanks Holly.
@lagomholly7 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing this! You make a good point comparing the concept to how animals view themselves, being comfortable and content is definitely key! I like your perspective here, I do believe it is a combination of both, but intuition and experience will both guide and tell us which is right I believe!✨

Well articulated, Holly. I do enjoy being alone. At work, I eat my meal alone in peace. Others may mistake it for sadness, but for me it's normal. During COVID, I've experienced loneliness. However, I've come to appreciate the benefits of solitude, such as being able to focus on my work. When I wake up in the morning, I always take a moment to look in the bathroom mirror. It's a chance for me to meet an interesting person every day - myself. Sometimes, I have doubted my own abilities, but I know that I am capable of achieving my goals. I have also noticed that when I speak positively about myself, it has a positive impact on the people around me who are important to me.

Thank you for sharing your honest thoughts and experiences here. I admire your honesty and how solitude has helped you to grow and recognise elements about yourself you hadn’t previously identified. Fundamentally the benefit it brings to your relationships with others is always the main reason I find it so worthwhile as you too have experienced😊 Thank you for watching🫶✨

We seem to share the same mindset around solitude and building a relationship with oneself and it's very liberating to hear your thoughts about it. I haven't really come across anyone that explains it so well and it gives me confidence in the choices I have made for myself. I have worked very hard on getting to the roots of myself the last decade, uproot what's needed, sow seeds of new things. And I finally feel that I have somehow arrived to a greater capacity within myself. Thank you for sharing all that you do :)

Looking back I know if I could be who I am now I would have made better decisions and that knowledge comes from taking the time to learn more about myself and living alone can really help if you use the time correctly and not create every distraction in the world to avoid practicing being silent and still for a moment…it’s very hard to hear anyone with so much chatter going on in this world let alone hearing & describing your own feelings and putting them into words so that you can understand yourself better..also I have found that happiness is not a place or a situation it’s a state of being & that has allowed me to be a much more positive person to myself and to every living thing around me.. I have found that being grateful for everything and giving thanks for everything has become such a huge priority in my life I have finally met someone that I love and have a great respect for…myself…I just wish I could have been this version of myself a long time ago….now Holly please don’t be mad at me for sounding like a broken record but I believe you are one of the most beautiful people that has ever graced our planet💫..bye & thank you 🙏

Thank you for sharing this thought provoking perspective and your experiences here Andy. I couldn’t agree more regarding happiness, it’s not something that can be “found” but that is acquired and felt within and state of being that can be with us right now. The main thing is that you are the person you are today and can recognise the journey you have made to be here… you wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for those experiences and the learning that shaped who you are now!✨ Really appreciate your lovely words that are always so kind🥹 Appreciate you being here!😊

I don’t think anyone can be truly content with themselves until they fully understand themselves, both the bad and the good parts. Those bad parts of us particularly, reveal themselves when we’re going through bad times and stressful situations which is why we can grow through suffering. We learn to accept we have those negative parts and try to develop strategies to control them so their effects are minimised on both us and the rest of the world around us. Far from easy though! I think being alone, while easier for the more introverted, can still be hard without intermittent, real life human interaction which is why the overall trend towards more people being single for extended periods of time is going to be really tough for a lot of people. Being able to self-reflect helps deal with the negative aspects of being alone but as a society we’re probably going to have to develop more effective and up to date ways of developing social interactions and creating more of that sense of community that people seemed to have decades ago. Anyway, that’s my rambling musings!🙂
@lagomholly7 ай бұрын
Thank you for sharing this mark, this resonated deeply with me and I think you’ve summarised things perfectly that it’s a balancing act between solitude and human interactions✨ I’ve come to find though solitude has really benefited my relationships externally from the reflection and self awareness it brings. I do agree being naturally introverted it comes easier but I do think there is benefit for everyone to know themselves deeply😊 Really appreciate your thoughts here! Thank you for watching☺️

Fantastic video Holly :-) I can tell you've become a master at using that coffee machine! Lol. I really love when you said "Life is much more easy when you're on your own side" that actually opened my eyes. I have a relationship with God, and I nurture that relationship through spending a lot of quality time with Him, that's my most important relationship. However, my relationship with myself is very lacking at times I admit, and your video reminds me perhaps I need to be kinder to myself. Often how we treat ourselves is how we end up treating others. If I for example, don't have grace towards myself, how can I be graceful towards others? Anyways, I love how you make your own bread, it's actually had me thinking for quite some time.. hmm.. maybe I should try making my own bread. Thank you for the beautiful inspiration as always, Holly :-)

Thank you for your comment Stephen and sharing your thoughts here!✨ There is always opportunity to strengthen our self relationship and it often starts with being kinder and more compassionate with who we are and that we’re not made to be perfect but to learn and grow. I completely agree though, it takes one to know one and we must love ourselves to know how to and give love to others✨ Wishing you the best and thank you for watching!🫶
