Could this be the simple hip movement you need to make an effortless transition and weight transfer to your lead side?

Milo Lines Golf coach, Ed Lasater is back to expand on a feel that many elite ball strikers use to wind up their trail side efficiently. Some in the past, including the likes of Tiger Woods and Greg Norman have eluded to this right pocket back feel in helping them not only creating a powerful load, but also ample space and a proper weight shift back to their lead side. And if you also struggle with creating consistent ball first contact, then this feel could truly be a game-changer. We hope you enjoy this episode and look forward to hearing your feedback!

Milo...... 👏👏👏 Well done! As a former (old school....or jist plain old) golf professional and student of Henry Picard, Alex Morrison, Gardner Dickinson, David Lee, etc., etc. I can confirm what you're teaching is in alignment with the natural way the body moves in any athletic endeavor where you are standing off to the side of an object inflicting a blow or trying to move that object a great distance by winding up and unwinding the body in the most effective and efficient way. Bobby Jones said, " as long as the human anatomy does not change.... The correct way to strike a golf ball is not likely to change. In watching your videos... I have fastly gained respect and confidence in what you're communicating to students as accurate and useful information that can be easily understood and applied. Henry Picard told me, "the more you know about the golf swing the fewer people you can talk and listen to. Meaning there's a lot of bad or incorrect information out there being taught by instructors who really don't understand athletically how the body moves. What I learned many.years ago from Morrison and Picard ..... you and your team are teaching today using different terminology. When you say "pressure before motion"...... You're talking about shifting weight before body rotation which creates dynamic balance by adhering to the correct order of movement (sequencing) and the natural way the body moves anatomically.

An oldie but a goodie. Before TW was even born a little know pro called Greg Norman explained his key swing thought of RPB - right pocket back. You guys explain it really well because the mechanics of RPB are much better understood now. Back then it was just a feeling. Great video.

Love the comment and swing thought 👍 Be watchful..... There is a correct order of movement in the golf swing, also called sequencing. Milo said, " learn sequencing so the flow of pressure is always leading the motion of the club"......."pressure ahead of motion....both ways." He speaks about a Trigger and says, " The trigger is what gets the energy going on the 1st part of the backswing". He added, "get some motion in your feet.... Then tossa club back (so to speak)... Note: All of that takes place before body rotation (....which takes place on right hip joint). Where am I going with all this? It goes back to the swing "Right Pocket Back"...... At address....If your weight is centered between your feet and you begin the swing by turning your RPB...... Your golf game is headed down the path to certain doom and over time you will likely end up injuring yourself. Keeping your feet planted in a static address position and then beginning the swing by rotating the torso while your weight remains centered between both feet..... We'll become a spreading cancer throughout your entire golf swing. I realize this is a long rambling comment but consider Milo's words on the backswing.... trigger leads to pressure before motion which then flows into rotation.

Anyone who is hitting fat iron shots needs to try this - this will clean up your low point quickly. One additional thing that helped me load was to feel the trail foot turning clockwise in the backswing as I loaded my pressure - almost like your screwing your trail foot into the ground - great video!

Idea for a video? In a Ben Hogan documentary, a caddie mate of Hogan said that when Ben was just starting golf, he used to "run at the ball" as he swung in an effort to win driving contests. As an accomplished golfer and writer of books he would speak of the sensation of "running at the ball". I wonder if his youthful attempts to hit the ball with a running start is connected to his later "feel". (Happy Gilmore) Might be an idea for a video. Like your instruction very much.

Yours and Ed's right hip follow a slightly different path after the right pocket back position than most other pros because of your particularly philosophy about how to hit the ball (you both lower/settle a lot) but all the right hip stuff before that is the same, it's almost like the trial femur movement to a recentered position is the key to consistency (and swing speed). Hogan had more of a movement before transitioning (or part of it) but I wonder if you were his coach he would also have the lowering/settling move that you and Ed do as he was so fascinated with baseball swings?
@MiloLinesGolf

I don’t think many moved better than Hogan and I wouldn’t have touched his move. We play in different eras. Les’s lateral movement is needed with modern equipment because the ball doesn’t spin so today we can launch it. Back in the wound ball days players had to hit piercing low shots to keep control.

Why do I need a trigger? Why can't I just turn the ribs and load the hip? I'm serious about asking the question. We start from a static position, and I understand how difficult that is, and the desire to get things moving in advance. But doesn't this end up as infinite regression? I mean, doesn't our trigger ultimately need a trigger, and so on?
@edlasatergolf
@edlasatergolf 4 ай бұрын
Commonly a trigger is to assist in loading the trail hip and create a more dynamic motion.
@kevinprentice3113
@kevinprentice3113 3 ай бұрын
Love your questions. Yes, that trigger business can become problematic. It's a vicious cycle 😂😂😂
@edlasatergolf
@edlasatergolf 3 ай бұрын
I would say every shot where you attempt to ramp up the energy should have some trigger however slight it might be. Also, the lack of a trigger can cause your trail leg to straighten to soon and hand path to inside to quickly which can lead to a whole host of issues. Remember, the trigger is not a sway but a slight shift of pressure.
@kevinprentice3113
@kevinprentice3113 3 ай бұрын
1. Starting from a static position is problematic... The whirling motion of the club creates centrifugal force which starts from the center (torso) and moves outwardly thru the left arm wrist and hand to the club..... With no slack. Done correctly....It would be like pulling on a string instead of pushing on a string. There is no slack from the hub (body) to the spoke (left arm) to the rim (club shaft) To oversimplify ... athletically the winding up motion (body action) would be to step to your back foot then turn on your right hip. Dynamically while the club is still completing the back swing you step to your front foot and turn on your left hip. NOTE: There is no twisting of the spine. You step to your back foot....turn on that hip joint. Then step to your front foot....turn on that hip joint. Medical Alert.... If you keep your weight centered between your two feet and you try to make a backswingand rotate(load) the way you describe without a trigger..... You're going to create torque in the spine and end up with an injury over time. Trying to turn with your weight centered between both feet is not the natural way the body moves in this kind of an athletic endeavor
@bjohnson515
@bjohnson515 4 ай бұрын
Instead of the glove, which is good, what if you dangled down an appropriately cut alignment stick out that back pocket so it would drag an arc of your hip movement? You could even have sand on the ground to see the actual arc? One would have to create the device in the pocket to allow that stick to hang straight down.
