On the schematic there are only two 100nF capacitors, but on the PBC there were three. Also, on the schematic the electrolytic capacitor was connected to the output of the IC7805 but on the PCB it is on the input.

It is better to limit the VGS of the mosfet between 10..15V (add a resistor to the emitter of the bipolar so the drop across the GS resistor becomes the desired 10..15V). Operating it at the 18..20V, it will fail soon.

I assembled the components using the diagram shown here, when I tried it LED1 immediately turned on, and VR1 seemed to only provide a voltage range between 3vdc (minimum) and 3.7vdc (maximum). When I try to use a power supply to run the circuit and attach the soldering tip, the voltage will drop from 12vdc to 5.6vdc with a maximum current of 1.6. is there something wrong with my circuit. Thank you very much.

I have some sugestion for your project :For exemple you cood use lm 317 with some resistor to get 5 v. The lm 317 have a beter termo stability and a curent consumation of 400a . And you will makeit more cood add the ground pin for the iron tip . În rest is a cool project

Nice job. If you use acetone on a rag you can remove most silk screen text. I do *NOT* use an abrasive like a scotch brite pad most of the time as it will affect the surface finish. Most screen printing inks appear to be formulated from plastics similar to laser printer toner. Acetone acts as a solvent that can remove them. I use old tee shirts cut into shop rags for jobs like this. If a few layers of rags are used to cover the end of a wooden popsicle stick with a rubber band to hold the rag(s), it is possible to make a tool to work on smaller areas. I don't recommend using tape, or trying to mask off areas you want to keep versus remove. Acetone will find its way under almost any tape and will cause problems. If you really want to make a nice looking indicator scale, it is possible to use photoresist on a soda can and etch it like circuit board. It is easier to remove the outer painted surface of the can's aluminum. Don't damage the inner plastic coating. I cover this inside surface in an extra layer of box packing tape while working on the sheet of aluminum. Make the transparency mask lines around 75-80% the size of the final text. The aluminum will etch differently than copper. It tends to etch laterally (sideways) quickly while you are still waiting on the sharp edges to dissolve. I leave the aforementioned packing tape on the back surface of the aluminum when I etch. It is easier to control the process when only one side is exposed. After the etch is done the tape will help remove the coating that was on the inside of the can in the areas that have been etched through. You will still need to use a sharp razor to remove the rest of the liner coating inside the lettering, but this is easy. This process will yield a nice stencil. Now place the stencil on the surface, mask off everything else around it, and use a spray paint can to apply very light coats of paint to the stencil with the can held at 90 degrees and further away than usual. Do not be lazy and try to do 1 or 2 coats of heavy paint, or move the can side to side. Let very light coats of paint cover the work over time and do 8 to 10 of them with 5-10 minutes between each. I also use this aluminum can technique to make solder paste stencils. They work great too. -Jake

A few years ago I made a t12 station using arduino, a switch with bjt and P channel, and an op amp with 200 gain, one day the 7805 died and killed the atmega 328p, as I needed to solder I replaced the arduino with a comparator using the second 358 amplifier and it has been like this for 5 years, the only problem is an audible noise at 2KHz, but it is not the same design as the video, so I ask someone else has some noise, from the mosfet, in the arduino version used 30Khz to avoid this, does it happen to anyone else???

Can someone explain to me why the 1n4148 vd2 diode is reverse between the 2 opamps? Pls
@TheFandiahmad

Saya pikir mungkin di OP2 hanya membutuhkan tegangan negatif sehingga VD2 dipasang terbalik hanya untuk mengambil tengangan negatif, bukan positif.

4:09 At the moment of the tip being heated by 18-24V from the power supply, won't the input on the OpAmp be the voltage of the power supply? How does the OpAmp "know" the voltage of the thermocouple if it's connected directly to the power supply output like that? P.S. I've built this station and it works. It keeps me up at night knowing that I don't get it. Please help :D

I have the same thoughts. Can somebody explain?
@djtransnazgrz
@djtransnazgrz 3 жыл бұрын
@@КостаСтојановић-о8х Well, it kinda works like a relaxation oscillator, When the heater turns on the voltage does go up to about 0.7 V (clamped by the diode) on the input, the opamp switches, but the 100nF capacitor has to discharge before heater can turn off, when it's off the op amp sees the "true" temperature. So this circuit only measures the temperature when not heating, and, when heating will switch on and off to measure tip temperature.

The switching is done on positive side and since p channel mosfet is used, Plz reply me why is it done so ? Is it possible to do switching on negative side using n channel mosfet ? As you know, p channel mosfet are hard to find... You people are only source for this kind of educational learning, plz help
@alexstone691
@alexstone691 3 жыл бұрын
@@16phoenixlast There are plenty of resources online, khan academy is good one for learning electronics better The reason P channel mosfet is used is so that the thermocouple can be measured, if the low side was switched the ground would not be connected and the amplifiers would only see full source voltage and no regulation could be done

It is a PWM circuit without any temperature sensing.That means increase manually the duty cycle until the solder melts in the desired solder point but can not be left prolonged because the next melting will be the solder iron itself.
