I just started learning Arabic without a teacher to guide me and am at the beginning phase where I am still learning how to recognize all the letters and I am so glad I decided to look up pronounciation for even what I thought I had a handle on! I hadn't considered how my "s" and "z" sounds are produced, but putting the tongue on the lower teeth as shown instead of above the upper teeth as I do for my English and Spanish with no issue suddenly س and ز no longer have the subtle yet noticeable effect of slightly disrupting and redirecting airflow which caused me to stumble especially when going into a vowel from them! It is incredible how even a minor change makes pronouncing other surrounding letters simpler in turn and allows words to flow much more seamlessly and elegantly! Your videos are an invaluable resource and have made a daunting task feel much more attainable!

Read if you have problems with the pronouncing of ص. I want to show how I learned ص. I hope it helps you. If I did anything wrong, Arabic 101 can correct me. Step 1: Go to the mirror and look at your tongue while you’re pronouncing ك or ق. You should see how the back area of your tongue rises up, that’s what we want. Step 2: Try to rise up the back of your tongue without pronouncing any letter. Make this movement again and again, it may feel like a new movement. Step 3: Make that movement, hold the back of your tongue rised up and then try to pronounce سِ while it is still rised up. If it sounds like صِ then it’s good but if it didn’t, try again.

Jazakallah Khairan, this helped me. Can you explain how to pronounce ض ع ظ ط also?
@powerninjatm362
@powerninjatm362 Жыл бұрын
السلام عليكم I‘m not a teacher so I can‘t confirm if my explanation are right, I would like Arabic 101 to confirm them, but I can help you with the letter ط and ظ. You can try ظ by doing the same steps as for the letter ص with the exception that you replace سِ with ذِ. For ط, if you can pronounce ت properly then try to uplift your whole tongue to the root of your mouth and then say تِ and repeat and repeat. I hope it helps you, but checking out the „makharij & sifaat“-playlist or the „how to speak like an Arab“-playlist of Arabic 101 would be better. May الله help us all with the arabic pronouncing.
