interesting fact: having selma come out as being gay was actual foreshadowed way back in a treehouse of horror episode. in treehouse of horror 3 in the 1st segment " clown without pity " Patty says, " well there goes the last lingering will of my heterosexuality." Weird how many seasons later what most would have thought was a throw away foreshadowed one of them being gay, and it turned out to be selma not patty. or maybe i'm just feeding way to much thought into it.

"Homer Badman" is one of the greatest episodes ever, and so much more pointed now than it was then. Hilarious and completely accurate. And any episode that has "Homer S: Portrait Of An Assgrabber" and "Rowdy Roddy Peeper" is automatically a classic. Dennis Franz's pervert laugh cracks me up every time.

GHW Bush attacked the Simpson after they had shown a positive portrayal of him in the episode "Mr. Lisa Goes to Washington." He fired the first shot in that duel. "Two Bad Neighbors" was just them defending themselves.

I kept waiting for that season everyone told me about that they started going down hill, but it never really came. One episode that was inspired by spite is Flaming Moe's. The bit where Homer is jealous of Moe's success was reputedly inspired by Sam Simon's annoyance at the accolades and acclaim for the show's early success being given solely to Matt Groening.

Their take on medicating ADHD in the episode here was a really bad, misinformed one. You wouldn't worry about medicating someone diabetic with insulin, for instance, but the moment something in the brain instead of in the body needs medication to be treated, suddenly people are experts and think it doesn't exist or doesn't cause those of us living with it genuine problems. Ironic, since an early episode ("Bart gets an F") is an extremely well written depiction of ADHD in a student (like, possibly the best one on TV) and heartbreaking at that.

It's interesting, hearing about the episode that mocks Morrissey. This is part of a growing problem for many left-wing comedies (another recent example is the Borat sequel)- the left is now well and truely "the establishment", at the very least in cultural matters. Conservative/right-wing/ "un-woke", however one wishes to phrase it, is now rebellious and risqué.
