While not a horrible game by any means, this is definitely the worst of the handheld games that this team developed (The Sims 2 Pets GBA is another story). You can really tell that they were pressed for time. Instead of releasing one good game - like they did with Bustin' Out and The Urbz - I feel like they were stretched too thin and released two half-baked games. I think that the "TV show" concept was just put together to easily link a bunch of concepts that they weren't able to make work otherwise. The world feels dead and lifeless compared to its predecessors, and there are areas of the game that are barely used. Even with all that, the worst part is the gameplay. Not being able to keep up with motives in advance is the worst part. I think they were trying to simplify it (a common review complaint for previous titles was the motives) but took it way too far. The new conversations were good idea in theory. They were a new feature to set the game apart and probably saved the writers a lot of time, but in the end they just ended up being repetitive, frustrating, and prevented a lot of the conversational character development that the Urbz had. The surviving elements from the previous titles along with the humor of the writing still makes it a passable game. They just had a lot to live up to. (Also where's this discord group?? lol)

it defo is the worst of the holy trinity of gba games !!! its a shame it couldve been so good too :(!!!! yeah literally !!! like it was so empty ? and what was the point of that Canyonero Grande place like theres that bloody lever like a lil bit of effort went in for it to not get used smh... i liked being able to physically interact with the characters but the novelty wore off quickly like i wanna know what jimmy the neck and jeb have 2 say for themselves!!! so if u go on speedrun . com search for the sims and its the discord on there theyve got all the different games on there (idk how 2 use discord properly so idk how to invite u :( ) omg i had the ugly skirt last time !!! lol i bet it looked bloody weird lol, aww thank u so much!!! xx

yipee!!! new prudence softy video talking about my special interest!!!! i was laughing SUPER hard at a lot of the jokes in this video. mostly the voices. i love the voices. daddy bigbucks’ was perfect. also, posh burple? why are you correct about that. also, i can’t believe you called auda sherif simon cowell but you’re right auda does look like him 💀 i’m so glad you gave this game another go! It was the first game that truly made me love the handheld sims games. It’s so charming and funny and strange… although flawed. I’ve always enjoyed it more than The Sims 2 for DS because of how much more expansive the characterization is for everyone. The Sims 2 for GBA still gives scraps, but, eh, that’s just more opportunities for fanon to fill things in! I am going to bitch in your comments section for a bit: (this is very long. whoops!) The writing is witty and the characters do have a lot of character, even if we don’t see it often (SIMS 2 PETS FOR GBA DNI). But I do think it suffers due to its episodic format (and the fact that the fact that the TV show being a secret appears to have came much later in the game’s development than you would expect but shhh). It’s cool that various episodes have multiple paths and endings (choosing mole people vs humans, choosing who to ask to flirt with ara, the last episode), buttt… Nothing really builds on itself, so it feels hard to be invested in the plot. It never feels like anyone really does anything important, because nobody really does. There’s also a lot of wasted potential for character growth. Most obviously, Luthor being kicked out of his house and given 600 million simoleons to spend in Strangetown in order to get caught up in Daddy’s ruse. And like! They acknowledge it, but don’t really do anything with it, y’know? It just would’ve been nice to see more character development in the cast in general. The only character that kinda got an arc was Optimum Alfred (god i love Alfred!!! what an awesome character), and maybe Emperor (/Mayor) Xizzle and Kent Hackett. Not to mention!! You’re sooo right. Why did they do Giuseppi like that. (As well, given Giuseppi’s massive arc in The Urbz, it would have been cool to see them continue that? No respect, no respect at all smh.) I love the world of the game a lot. The world is very empty, but the emptiness feels intentional, like we’re in a small town where there’s not enough people to fill and maintain every nook and cranny. (Compared to SimValley GBA, which feels empty unintentionally. They just made the world too big.) Although,,, the gameplay of the Sims 2 for GBA genuinely sucks imo. They had such a good, balanced gameplay loop in the previous game Here’s the thing: time doesn’t really exist in The Sims 2 GBA. Let’s say I need to stop progressing the game for a little while so I can raise money or build skills. You can access all jobs from 1am-11:59pm (they’re all closed at 12am-12:59am) once a day, and then you can play that again. What do you do between then? You can’t fulfill your needs; needs are on a timer and can only be fulfilled when an urgency pops up (this is so you can only have one urgency at a time, which is a neat idea but I find more annoying than helpful. You have to stop what you’re doing to fill ONE need instead of being able to fill all of them at once!). Talking to Sims doesn’t pass time (… not that it’s even entertaining anyways). Doing jobs doesn’t pass time. Needs are on a timer, so you can’t fulfill your needs just in-case. I’ve already done the hidden want, errand, and aspiration goal. My solution was to just sleep all day for days on end. It’s… not fun. Plus! The music doesn’t update unless you progress the episode. How I love listening to the Aliens theme for an in-game week. :) Now, this is in contrast to The Urbz/Sims Bustin’ Out, there was always something to do! Job openings are staggered, so you can’t do them all at once, plus they actually pass time. You can talk to NPCs (which actually passes time), and your relationship with them decays and is important to complete missions, so there’s a reason to revisit NPCs (and it’s actually fun to talk to them!). You’re needs all work independently, so you can refill your needs on your own time and make sure they’re all maxed. You can paint, cook, skill-build, invite sims to your house, etc. even then, the sims 2 gba did scrap half their game. the gameplay loop would have worked better with a different difficulty curve... i wonder what it would’ve been like if the team hadn’t been working on the sims 2 for ds at the same time.

This video is fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. ❤ I’ve heard bits about this sims 2 on GBA, but I’ve never played it and admittedly completely forgot! I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed playing it myself - as the voices you gave the characters, summaries and additional comments made it into something so elevated and unique. These videos do the games so much justice, to the point where in my headcannon, Poo is the default main character of the franchise. Thank you for going through all the effort - I can’t begin to fathom - to make and share this video. It’s a gem! Also, the lonely-at-the-top ending with Daddy Bigbucks and his alien prozzie was so unexpected 🤣🤣

Redheads are the best! I'd like to see her with her lion tamer whip... Oh, season 2 ends with the undead mummy wanting to stay with us until he dies.... Not sure he quite understands the concept of undead, there... You destroyed Alfred! :O You monster! Wait, this game unironically references the game Zero Wing?! I'm curious, are you old enough to remember the All your base are belong to us memes...? While I do like the idea of this being a show the Goth family watch and their ratings of the show being your score for the level, not sure I want a sims game that really de-emphasises the whole life simulation game. Also, that Soda cup that eats you alive is horrifying....
