This is my favorite world and I love survival rags to riches. Beachcoming is usually the way to go. My sims usually only start out with a beach towel, a fire pit, a poop bush and maybe a tent if I’m feeling benevolent that day. It always did bug me that you can’t cook the fish you catch. I mostly hope I can grow something.

Roofs are free, even when they change size, certain rooves can have doors put on them (if it'll fit) and you can put items inside them

Actually each fishing point has specific fishes. If you fish with higher level fishes with low level fishing skill you won't catch anything. Just go to a different fishing point and you'll catch them :-)
