If you look on the compass/bar at the top of your screen, you can see the fast travel symbol and follow it to the phone booth. Hope I was some help! :)

In regards to fast travel, in most Zelda games I don't use fast travel because I find the horse-riding and sea-sailing quite cathartic. But not having fast travel of some kind is a drag.

Btw. The edges of the screen wrinkle when you're near a clue you have to use your spooky vision to find. It greatly helps narrowing down stuff like that wall you struggled to find.
