why did ss californian not help titanic? SS Califronian was a ship, which was in the area during one of the most famous marine accidents of all time in 1912. In fact, it was Californian that warned the Titanic about pack-ice in the region. Californian itself has stopped for the night because of the dangers and its radio operator was allowed to go to sleep.

No. It has not been found. However, from what I've heard, the shipwreck is within range of the shipwreck of the HMHS Britannic. She's less than 200 miles or so. The problem is, she's 10,000 - 13,000ft below the surface. There's a hard chance you would find a ship like that.

It took the californian two hours to get out of the ice field it was parked in..in the daylight hours, it would have taken longer at night. They couldn't just hit the gas and haul arse to the titanics aid, without potentially sinking themselves. Mount temple also attempted a rescue, it was actually closer than carpathia - it was held up by ice, by the time it cleared the field, carpathia had arrived. All in all, several ships attempted to come to titanics aid, albeit most wouldnt have gotten there until well into morning. The californian plays a small but sad role in this story...and as a ham radio guy - the californian also had a lackadaisically bad radio operator, hence the radio-rudeness from titanic's Jack Phillips, who mistook the guy's lack of professionalism as an attempt to make idle chit chat while he was obviously busy.

They dont deserve it, the californian didn't help titanic thinking it was listening to the ice reports, titanic is at more fault, they were going too fast for an ice zone. And reversing the engines gave them less time to turn, because they were all focused on engine reversal, while one man was turning the ship. Now if they had slowed down earlier and had every crew member focused on turning the ship, they could've saved it faster. Now for californian, it cant be at fault, because they warned the Titanic of ice, the titanics radio operator was stressed, getting telegrams left and right, broken marconi machine, staying up all night, that built up stress. Out of stress the radio operator told the californian to shut up. Californian probably also thought that there was something special going on with the white flares. The emergency flare color is RED not white. And Californian was stopped, as well with not much of a moon being seen that day, which would've put light on the ship as the sun reflects moon light. So therefore californian is not responsible, titanic is.

Californian's sinking had nothing to do with Titanic it Californian was torpedoed by 2 U-Boats and even the Carpathia the ship that rescued the Titanic survivors was even torpedoed by a U-Boat 3 years after Californian and 6 years after Titanic

Californian's wreck has yet to be discovered. She sank very close by to where the HMHS Britannic would later sink. However it's likely that the wreck will not be found for sometime. The Californian lies at a depth around 10,000 - 13,000ft below sea level.
