I totally agree with your point about companies trying to push a lot of infra responsibilities to devs. In my current company this is happening and the devs have been told that they will be on call which caused them to riot. They dont even want to provision their own databases from well defined templates, yet the org expects them to handle the infra.

@mischavandenburg Im working in the devops team which just got rebranded into a platform team. I am not affected by this. In a hypothetical world where the devs would all be 10x engineers that know all about dev and infra then i would be affected but that is far from the case in my current job.

@@mertyildirim744 I live and work in Sweden and here a degree isnt needed to land a job in tech. It will of course help but its not a hard requirement. I know many people who have good jobs without degrees here. I dont know about other countries though. Either way, i do think that a degree in computer science is a good thing to have to grasp the fundementals in a structured way. Although that depends on costs etc. Here uni is free for citizens of EU. I would never go to uni if it would force me to take a loan. But thats just me.
