Hi Ian, this is a wonderful presentation on these practices. As a Vajrayana practitioner I'm so very grateful that you have emphasized the great importance of these methods and practices being conveyed by great Masters to their disciples and students. The undercurrent of this practices is Bodhicitta rather than self gratification. They can in inexperienced hands and without proper guidance be dangerous in so many ways, much like a child playing with fire. I hope we western practitioners can develop our foundational practices first and foremost and our intention of benefiting all sentient beings before embarking on these very advanced practices for very advanced and realised students guided by true realised Masters. Thank you for sharing your excellent knowledge in your books and videos!

It seems to me that the author has much less elitist view of these practices and their place in the modern world.

@@wizkid7717 Hi Tarek thank you for your message. Unfortunately I do not have any realisations to be able to guide you in any of these practices. I know there are sim very great teachers who do teach these practices and I’m sure Ian Baker is connected to an excellent lineage. I have also heard of Kalu Rinpoche in the Tibetan Vajrayana tradition teaching these too. They are very advanced practices and need proper training before embarking on them. I hope this helps. Practicing true loving kindness to all sentient beings is actually the most important aspect and underpins all subsequent practices. I hope this is of some help to you dear Tarek.

Very well said. Pure motivation is the very essence of the path. If you don’t have that then you’ll have every reason to distort and end up somewhere else completely.

Trul Khor is also taught in the Tibetan Bon tradition, for example, by Tenzin Wangyal and his student, Alejandro Chaoul.

Tashi deleck Ian la for sharing your experience with Thumo practices and general knowledge of the Vajrayana teaching. Please be mindful how you interpret your own experience to the new and the beginner dharma students. Tibetan Buddhism is based on systematically unbroken profound linages. Which has graduated paths. Certain practices is concealed for reasons, one can not read book and follow the instructions. It can be dangerous Like wise how can we gain phd without entering starting from kindergarten levels. Comment regards building monastery ? Under Tibetan governments in exile it is absolutely necessary to build a monastery and Tibetan library and school for the preservation of our traditions identity for future generations . Monasteries are university which offer all the subjects including practical meditation also winter holiday days can enter retreat.

Thankfully Bön has spread to the west and has been made accessible to us. I’ve been a “seeker” for awhile and found Bön to hit every note perfectly. Not only that, but the practice works, with pure motive!! Key is to give, give give.
