Thank you so much Jordan for getting this interview together, I've been following your channel for quite some time. To Siya, I want to say that your words are very powerful. I started a community project in the Transkei in 1998 and I've learnt Ubuntu from the abahlali there, it has been a humbling experience, there cannot be a me without an us, we are stronger together. I've seen how everyday life is so tough there that our future in sporting success lies in these rural communities. Big respect for everything you guys have achieved in bringing the rest of South Africa on to the same page

There's something special when someone has a goal and a dream to interview someone, and it lands. Like Eggchaser finally gettting his interview with Deon Fourie, and Jordan being a rugby fan that wanted the chance to speak with Siya, its good to be part of the journey of it unfolding
@mvubu6823Ай бұрын
That was a quality set of questions. His biggest fear question..... Did you see the mood change as the weight of the question hit him. His simple answer covers a lot of ground, and its where he puts his burdens that allow him to carry the load he does. To me he is terrified iof letting people down by not being the best he can be. His lofe has been lived on a tightrope with no net, and now his is the net for millions. What an incredible man.

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done, The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won, The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring; But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells; Rise up-for you the flag is flung-for you the bugle trills, For you bouquets and ribbon’d wreaths-for you the shores a-crowding, For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning; Here Captain! dear father! This arm beneath your head! It is some dream that on the deck, You’ve fallen cold and dead. My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still, My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will, The ship is anchor’d safe and sound, its voyage closed and done, From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won; Exult O shores, and ring O bells! But I with mournful tread, Walk the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead. Walt Whitman

Good job with the interview, Jordan. If you haven’t done so already, I recommend you read Siya’s autobiographical book, “Rise,” which gives a lot of insight about how he developed into the rather amazing human being he is. But please, as popular as it might be, I would not want to see him become president of South Africa. That would be a dangerous move for him given the overall dysfunction in the country’s body politic. I doubt one person can repair it in a short time, and it could harm his reputation and his philanthropic efforts.
@svn797Ай бұрын
Completely agree, he must keep away from politics
@joeritchie2Ай бұрын
It’s not completely parallel, as I believe the two men are quite different, but remember what happened to the Pakistan cricket idol Imran Khan after he entered politics and became prime minister. Something about sports heroes moving into politics always seems to end up with things going south all too rapidly, and perhaps not always at the sports hero’s fault. I hope Siya never falls into the temptation. There are too many bad actors in most of the political parties who would try to undermine all the good he could accomplish. Stick with the Kolisi Foundation, which is doing excellent work.

@@ianjacobs2998 Please no, keep religion out of leadership. People's beliefs should be private. Not everyone believes in shared delusion, no matter how good it makes you feel. Look at countries were religion dominates leadership, they are terrible places to live where rights for women do not exist.

@chris5240Ай бұрын
@@ianjacobs2998 You are welcome to your opinion, doesn't mean it is real. You can believe whatever you want. I prefer to not believe in made up stories that are used to control people. Much of the Bible you follow is taken from other preceding religious and pagan texts. Sure, some great lessons can be learned from some scripture, but there are so many deaths and sexual discrimination encouraged by religious text and beliefs around the world that you have to be a bit blind to ignore all the terrible things that religion brings to the world. It can be hard to see anything other than your own perspective when you are indoctrinated by a cult like Christianity or Islam. I can see things from your perspective, clearly, yet you may never be able to see it from mine...which is what your religious leaders want. A limited view on what our lives on this planet are. I understand why you believe, and I understand that many people feel lost without the guide they have been given. That doesn't make it real. Belief is a powerful drug that does not need religion to function.
