Was blessed to see your grandfather the great Roland Alphonso in action as the leader of the Skatalites in the mid-late 90s at the Majestic in Detroit. I wil never forget his presence and the beautiful, beautiful uplifting music.

I'm 63 and loved ska, rocksteady, reggae all my life. I've grown up with prince buster, the pioneers, the upsetters, toots and the maytals ect... Ect... And yes the skatalites. There are some very good ska bands around today and I have seen many of them. Most are cover bands but still very good.

Pur ,clean and basic. From the first note I'm dancing. Was privileged to see them live many years ago. To me Bob Marley is the Barry Maninlow of Jamaican music. Skatalites are the shit....
