Remember so clearly how distinctive the album looked. Carved in marble, carved in granite. Memories of being a teenager in Irvine, Ayrshire. A brilliant album, inspired guitar playing from Stuart Adamson. Great energy, verve and imagination. It's almost surreal to think it was so long ago now. 35 yrs and counting.

Had this on a Virgin compilation I think it was. Absolutely loved it and composed a sax part to go along with it as I was learning at the time.. What a track. RIP Stuart

Brilliant. Loved the Skids. Picked up on them in the late 70s. Celtic brilliance. Underrated from a south west Englishman.

Brilliant finishing track on The Absolute Game. They knocked out three terrific albums in 79/80. Who does that nowadays?

There was a record shop on St Vince Place just off Renfield. I can probably remember where I bought about 10% of my vinyl. This sticks though. Bought a Janis Joplin album the same time. Got hassled in the shop by part time punks from my bit. Maybe why I remember it.

+Derek Wilson Ha ha - I'm like you Derek - there are certain records where I know the shop they came from. I got this with the free album from Boots in Wood Green High Road. Imagine buying music from Boots these days ?

+Graham Goodall Glasgow had Listen, Bruce's and 23rd Precinct. Bands were formed over arguments about the best Velvets or Beefheart album. The best bands mainly agreed on Al Green and the OJays. And The Clash.

I also bought my copy with the free album from Boots (in Ayr High street). It felt like I was buying my first piece of art at the time and it pretty much still does. I still find myself being drawn back to it to this day.
