true story, when i was a kid about 9 or 10 years old (i’m 40 now) i bumped into him in star city, i asked for a photograph with him and without hesitation he did, such a humble man and he is and always will be my favorite pba player, i always wore the number 9 jersey with matching high white socks

I always used to see Samboy with his kids at Rockwell mall, I must have gotten his autograph a couple of times. Came a time when I no longer saw him, and asked friends who told me what happened. Samboy Lim and basketball were part of my teens back in the 80s. I am now 54 years old and my friends and I will never forget. No way! God Bless Samboy Lim and his family!

Years ago I think it was year 2001 if I am not wrong, we saw Samboy Lim in Lucky Plaza with some friends I think they were there to have exhibition games in Singapore. I was with my wife and we greeted him “ Hi Samboy” he replied “uy kumusta, kumusta na kayo dito” then we asked for a photograph with him he said ok pero when I turned on my camera no more battery (it was pre smartphone days so digital cam was the in thing) So bigla ako nalungkot, my wife said she will just buy a battery on the nearby store, so she ran and bought. What Samboy did still amazes me, He waited for us for a few minutes to have our new batteries and have a picture with him. Eventually we had a picture with him. That shows how good a person Samboy is. May God bless you Samboy.

Naalala ko nung may isang video sa you tube na napanood ko, inacknowledged siya na michael jordan of the phils., any nationals, gaano sila katangkad, they never stop him. I'm a big follower of Idol Samboy "The Skywalker" Lim, since in Highschool and i am saddened to what was happened to him. I am so grateful that i've met him personally in 2012 and the most memorable one was giving me a Birthday post-shoutout. I have been a fan of the PBAs Glory Days in the 80s and 90s. I rooted for Crispa, then Shell. I also rooted for Purefoods because of my kababayan & XUHS alum Jolas. I hated Samboy because he'd do these unbelievable aerial acrobatics that no one could stop. But I admired him for his resilience, despite the injuries, and determination, especially when representing the Flag, making him an Asian Games Mythical 5. Salute to Samboy! Now... Wouldnt it be apt and proper for a non-political institution to honor him instead? Statue unveiling, and then everybody gathers on the court wearing a uniform with a name in Bold letters, but not Samboy's... Just my two cents worth...
