I actually kind of hold the reverse of your opinions. I think it's weird to too rename that outfit for Leia because she was forced into a gold bikini, which is something they make slaves do. Saying that at that point she was enslaved is completely accurate to what happens in the movie, though I do agree that the name "Huttslayer" is objectively cooler and lends her more agency. The title of Slave 1 is only ever mentioned in tertiary material, and so the fact that it's called Firespray on the variant cover and in BoBF he calls it "my Firespray gunship" isn't necessarily a retcon, just avoiding the name (I named my family's minivan as a kid, but calling it anything other than my Honda odyssey to anyone else would be weird), so if that's how they treat it in future materials I'm cool with it. Even if they do retcon the name, it's still the same badass ship we all know and love.
