The Sleekest Light Meter - AstrHori XH-2

So our friends from AstrHori just sent us their newest external light meter to test out before its launch in June. So in this episode, we take our Mamiya RB67 with an Instax square back out and test the AstrHori XH-2 and compare it to myLightMeter (iOS) as well as a Sekonic L-408 (used as a reflective meter).
We discuss how it performs, how accurate it appears to be as well as the things we like and did not like about it.

Great explanation. I just purchased this light meter and was a bit concerned about it. Appears I did okay with this little unit but learned about the camera app. Never even occurred to me to look for an IOS app, but it makes a lot of sense. Thanks!

I just bought an old Minolta SRT 202. The battery that was in it was dead. It's a mercury 1.3 v battery and they don't majestic it anymore. I can buy a conversion kit to use modern batteries for about $40 but then I would have to buy batteries on top of that. I may buy other cameras later that the light meter doesn't work in. I think in the long run an external light meter would be cheaper. If it makes your photos over exposed you can either compensate or pull your film by one stop. That might be better.

For this model of light meter, given its design. just make sure it does bulge out and prevent you from looking into the viewfinder easily.

So you cant change the battery? Its scrap when the battery fails?

yea unfortunately there seems to be no way to change the internal battery. Given that it's a new product I am not sure how long it will remain usable. it looks it might eventually end up dead unless Astrhori comes up with a replacement plan?
