Why havnt anyone thought of making these truly 3D by having blades on all 3 axis? Perhaps blades rotating like an spindle in each direction instead of flat plane. What you essentially have are blades that traverse the 3D space as winding, expanding and contracting cones with their tips at the center of the device.

Might have been smart to move the camera about the gadget to show the depth. Otherwise the effect of watching this on a screen flattens it

This is not 3D, and it's not holography. It is an LED animation device which does produce a cool, illusion of a free floating animation. But it's NOT 3D holography in any way.
