I think it was pretty good but I wouldn't call it incredible. Reaching Castle Age two minutes before the opponent and putting down a monastery instead of putting down a Castle right away is surely a huge misplay, especially considering he needed to delete the monastery two seconds later to build the Castle. There was a lot of gold wasted on sending monks to their death while the opponent still had a Castle. Once in Imp, I think the quality of play went up a lot, but Castle Age was really rocky.

Only if tower and castle drops are heavily nerfed. Maybe no garrisoning for towers and fewer arrows for Castles. Otherwise, it would get very boring after the novelty wears off.

I love this series so much. I honestly never watched any AoE games before - only watch and play StarCraft, played AoE only as a kid - and the smallest map series are helping me understand the very basics of the game without being too overwhelming. I made a 36x36 8-player map a few days ago, called it "Rocky Arena". Everyone has a 12x8 space out of range of each other's TCs, separated with stone mines and closed off with a single gate towards the center Can't share it sadly since I'm still on AoC

You may be underestimating yourself T90 but these small maps bring AoE2 to a whole dimension. I can see people being a bit divided tho. Like, some will prefer the quick paced small maps and some will enjoy the longer games. You could even switch from one to the other. I can see it being great practice for rush strategies since you are so close to each other. When the pros played they never used monks for example. Or just gave up as soon as the castle was up.

We need a tiny map mod that nerfs the range of defensive buildings, bombards and trebs. Area denial with these is just so strong that we aren't going to see any other interesting meta develop I suggest reduce watch towers to 7 range, keep guard tower and castle at 8, and make them not affected by range upgrades. And make BBC 10 and trebs 12

I know you expressed being very happy about going to Facebook back when you announced and I don’t know how you and the rest of the community feel now, but I’m glad the contract is up. The fast chat of twitch (albeit lower quality) is more fun to read through as a KZbin viewer. In terms of what platform to go to, twitch just announced that they allow simulcasting, so if you get partner on twitch you can stream on KZbin at the same time.

@@Milktube T90s twitch audience was already pretty mature??? Looking at videos pre-facebook, most messages still related to the game or what was being discussed. The reason facebook chat was more "mature" was because nobody uses facebook's streaming platform and chat was a ghost town compared to chats on other platforms. Growth is much better through KZbin and Twitch. Not like this discussion really matters though. Unless some crazy contract is given to him I doubt he'll go to anything other than KZbin or Twitch.

This would be a lot more entertaining if I knew why things were happening. Like, instead of zooming in on a tree and asking whether it's a bush or a tree, you could be explaining WHY "turks" are an advantage later in the game, or explain what HippoOnaBus would have to do to get around that tower, and I would watch 19 straight videos, download the game and sink 1,500 hours into it. When you start laughing and I don't understand why, there's a huge disconnect. I can't be the only one. I'll still watch, of course, but what could be.... You've got such a great voice and speaking cadence.
