This was by far the hardest of the small maps to script. Elevation has a hard-coded minimum distance it has to stay away from the TC. And while I can raise a TC, I can't lower it. Everything had to fit perfectly. If it were 35x35 instead of 36x36 I don't think it would have worked.

Can you please make a mod to go with the small maps that nerfs the range of watch towers to 7 (but not guard towers) and trebs to 12, and makes all buildings range unaffected by fletching etc. I feel like the meta would be so much more interesting if it wasnt just either tower spam or race to trebs. Right now a feudal age tower ranges 20% of the map area, and a treb ranges 70%. On a map like crater where the edges aren't usable it's even worse

Small map tournament sounds like a good idea but it will get boring very fast once player figure out the meta. Hell it's even getting kinda dull now with the tower fest

@@wololo3781 Agreed. It's very entertaining, but for a full tournament there has to be a little change. Like either nerf towers and trebs a little and give them less range or something or ban them overall. Pretty much non of these maps was ever really decided by actual military units, which is sad, since those would be really interesting games. I understand that T90 wants to see how the players work their way through these maps first without any regulations, but with the current rules it would not be too great imo.

The reason these map games are fun to watch and the reason a tournament for this is a good idea is because there's no meta for it (yet). That's why its crucial to have a tournament for it now while its early in its infancy and while its still actually fun to watch and play and not plagued by meta.

What a TC drop! I thought for sure MBL was going to lose a ton of vills there and then after it went up I feared the same for Capoch. Mad respect to both of these two for playing on these maps and playing the way they do. I do still think a tournament with these maps could be very entertaining. I think more than one tournament could wear out some of the charm but it would be very interesting to see how others would handle these maps in a competitive setting. Thanks for casting these either way though!

So my suggestion for balancing towers a bit would be to shorten their range by 1-2 tiles, so that they can't control such a huge area of the map. Perhaps do the same for castles. Trebs and Bombards are also a consideration. But yea, I think there is much room for experimentation with tiny maps and I don't think they will get boring all too quickly.

While a tournament based around any of the individual gimmicks we often see in this kind of games would not work out well, I do wonder about a tournament with all of them. As in, a tournament where before each series one or more mods are randomly selected to affect that series from a long list of mods. Maybe every round that passes more things are selected? I don't know I just think something like that could give the gamemodes the longevity a tournament would need.

Red is Koreans so it is kind of fair in this very instance Trying to change something might lead to _unforeseen consequences_ - a Tower might fit in at the side of the crater and it will be able to range both wood, stone and a wee bit of gold, it'll be way easier to wall in for one player than the other, etc Also when exactly was vanilla AoE2 fair?
