I love OSD and have been installing their equipment in my customers homes for years. The in wall speakers are incredible. I have a few customers using the multi-zone amplifiers (never powered down) in their homes and they have been running trouble free for years.

You can choose the phase AT the crossover location. This is really cool. You can adjust the phase AT the crossover frequency. Which is NOT the same thing as the delay. This allows for precise integration with your mains. You can get perfect summation in the crossover section. The reason it goes to 10k is because they didn't arbitrarily set a limit. It's all the same in software.

it's not sealed as much as you think it is. There is a leak coefficient we consider when designing boxes. It's sealed enough for the system to work.

With passive radiators, the enclosure acts like a ported enclosure near the resonant frequency of the PR, but as it moves away from the frequency it acts more like a sealed enclosure. If the PR is tuned low, then higher bass ends up being tight like a sealed enclosure.

It's the exact same principle as ported. Instead of the port mass air resonance, it's the passive radiator.

@@Clobercow1 kind of. but, a ported box still is not sealed. With PR, the box remains sealed. As you move away from the resonant frequency of the PR, the PR moves less. You reach a point where the PR isn't moving at all really, and the box is sealed, so you get more of a sealed box reaction from the driver. With a port, you don't have the resonance of the moving port air, but you still have a hole in the box and air moves in and out.

@@Youngsta0 kinda, yeah. lets say the resonant frequency of the PR is 30 Hz. if the sub is playing 70Hz, that PR is not moving, or just barely. But at 30 Hz it is moving like crazy. So very like ported at 30, very like sealed at 70

Did see a graph of its output dipping precipitously under 25 hz though which is a bit high for a passive radiator 15, maybe that graph was just off.

The 10 inch 3 sub version claim 20 Hz to 120 Hz. Rather narrow band, but 20 Hz is cool! There's a new name on the block, and it's "RSL Speedwoofer". It's the newest 'tech' for subs (below 20 Hz), and they won't make you mortgage your house either to own one. Worth twice the price, maybe more. Tekton sells a 6 driver subwoofer again the price will surprise you.

I like sealed subs, am all about "musicality" vs monotone boom. I really have that desire for infrasonic sound as well. I bought this for my computer room because I had high hopes (I've got jbl 530's on my desk). Its not musical, and really doesn't get as low as "it should". I think it would be a great home theater sub especially for the size, it does fill a space, it does create spl. The app does work well to play with integration. That said, so far my "for the price pick" is a Starke Sound SW15.

As usual, Canada is just too far for this to be available! And as I've seen before, Canada never has the same coupon if it were! I grabbed two BIC America 12" from your review years ago. Since then the BIC 12" pricing in Canada has gone bonkers. I really wanted to find a 15" for the back of the theater to fill in subsonics. I grabbed a minidsp 2x4hd and a UM1 which I have to get setup so I can balance everything out. Looking forward to that!

Well, it is a very large room so migh be ok but big aint always better! I have a third smaller space and a sub that is 28*28cm or 11" with two 10" woofers and a 1000w amplifier 3000 in peaks . Still using about 30% of the power and windows shaking 😊. Goes down to 18hz but human ear cant hear under 20hz so no need for 16hz 🙄 Quite an echo in the room!

Related to "quality". You're not going to hear distortion, group delay, and any other distortion artifacts when it's playing low. If anything, the passive radiators mask a fair bit of distortion that would normally come from a port. The downside is that you git a little bit less output because the radiators have damping that air doesn't have.

Yes that phase with frequency thing is even more important than delay! It's an allpass and you can straighten the phase curve with this. Not every frequency comes out at the same time and with the allpass can make that happen. I think a couple Tapped horn's couldn't harm in that room... I have 2 8s in a tapped Horn and it slams more than my ported 15inch i had before. Gonna build more. For Subwoofer integration having worked with many things and now finally a DSP that also has allpass filters i wouldn't want to use anything else anymore as you can get everything pretty much 100% perfect! What song did you have playing in that video?

A tapped horn doesn’t offer much spl output over large cone area ported box, so I think it’s all in your head. Me and my friend have built a lot of different enclosures and the only thing that gets louder than a massive ported box is a 6th order bandpass in our testing

My build has 6db over ported and built wider so that 12s fit inside or 18s there's still a bunch of boost over ported. My dual 8 tapped horn has more output than my 15inch ported i had before that was tuned to 15hz

"triple" is a bit misleading, because while it does have three diaphragms of the same size, there is only one electromagnetic driver and two passive radiators. therefore it technically isn't triple, as that would mean three identical drivers.

I got this sub. It's tuning is low 40's high 30's and then you'll see the woofer start to unload. It''s not a low tuned subwoofer, at all. It CAN PLAY LOW. But not with any authority despite it's size.
