It was always a bit odd that the Telltale Troodon is probably the most extreme the franchise has gone with playing with the "make it as much of a horrible genetically-modified mutant abomination as possible" direction when, lorewise, it should be the least mutated and most accurate-to-real-life thing at the original park.

Glad the crew covered all aspects of Troodon as it's my favourite dinosaur and I love learning as much as I can about it, even if it may or not be valid. Lot of really interesting discussion in this episode. Mind blown about the paper behind the dinosauroid, and that there was a lot more to it then just the similar general body shape to us. Honestly it always kind of fascinated me, ever since I learned about it when I was a kid. Spec evo stuff also fascinates me in general. I always liked the Future is Wild series, Man After Man (which someone made a mod for this game lol), etc. I haven't used these guys as much in this game now that we have a lot of fluffy bois, but they were great for JWE challenge mode because of how many could fit in one exhibit. Good cost to appeal ratio too if I remember right. Skins in both games are great, and it is a really nice retro reconstruction that could have easily fit into the first or second film had it been included back then. Edit: Nearly forgot brain burger. Great term lol.

I REALLY like JWE2's Troodon. I dunno what it is exactly but when I look at it my brain just goes "nice". I think that it manages to homage all of its interpretations. I have the theory that when they released this guy back in JWE1 the devs were not planning to add anything smaller than this and so they gave it the Compy's sounds as gesture/reference. But the demand for the tiny terror was too loud to not get capitalized upon and thus Troodon's title as the game's smallest dinosaur was short lived.
@Twinkie0120Ай бұрын
On the subject of it being poisonous; discounting that because of tooth shape may not be right. While it my not have a venom delivery system like a cobra, neither does the Komodo Dragon. They have a gland in the lower jaw the secretes in the saliva. And you did say early thoughts were that Troodon was an early monitor lizard. So....connection???

Troodontids are a neat little family that I kind of can't help but connect with the dromeosaur raptors. Similar builds i suppose though troodontids always seem of a lighter build then a Raptor of equal build. Not to mention the possibility some early ones may have even evolved flight I kind of prefer Evolutions design over the telltale because this FEELS like a dinosaur brought back for the park. Inaccuracies and all. The Telltale one however is effectively a nightmarish monster right from a horror story. On an unrelated note about Dinosaur intelligence something I noticed is that a lot of people tend to REALLY overestimate the needed intelligence for various behaviors and actions. Like Tool use is a simple as the traps some crocs lay out for birds. Ain't goanna lie I love the concept of a sapient Dinosauroid. I think my favorite take that isn't fully on "Sapient Bird" is C. M. Kosemen and Simon Roy's thought experiment on the subject. But your guy's point that the loss of hands = more effective beak does make curious of a Dinosauroid that evolved from a more pronounced arms like an Allosaurid or Megaraptor. I am also curious about how it's both the Birds and the Mammals that produced the most intelligence.
@Adasaur250Ай бұрын
A few side points re: diacritics: 1) I would like to think that diacritical markings help, but I've heard my name (which I usually spell with an é whenever possible) mispronounced too many times by people whose education level suggests they should know better to put much stock in that thought. 2) For what it's worth, Chinese pinyin does have diacritical markings but they're not a given. Pinyin itself isn't usually a given in my experience unless they're explicitly catering to non-Mandarin readers. 3) The only group I've seen adamantly trying to get rid of the letter 'c' are Pan-Africanists who spell the continent's name as Afrika because "Africa" is The White Man's spelling, even though they're still using the white man's alphabet (and the Germans and Dutch of all people). They got the spirit and I'm with it, but they just a lil' confused. I do love dinosaurs.

1:44:34 This would probably be helped a lot by advocating for/increasing advertisement for content presented by actual professionals. The thing I'm having the most trouble with on youtube is actually finding scientists with channels amongst the common viewer - chum sludge, and I really only watch you guys, Ben G Thomas, EDGE and Clint's Reptiles for paleo content because I have a hard time finding others. A lot of chemistry channels actually do this cool thing where they collaborate on projects, advertise each other and reference each other's content which helped me find a lot of them, and EDGE does run an annual collaborative project with many content creators(although less interesting to me because some of the contributors are simple enthusiasts as opposed to actual scientists). basically, I couldn't agree more to what you're saying, but practically actual scientific content need to be easier to find Also the algorithm is shit and it regularly recommends the industrially mass - produced viewbait waste over content that is actually competently researched and presented, even if your watch history suggests that you prefer the latter. Making actual science videos less resemble the clickbait misinformation garbage on the cover might help too
