Welcome, it’s the tech4all channel - and this is where we inspect cool tech! Kospet is a name known for android smatwatches at very tempting prices.
Right now it’s around $170 - this puts the watch at a price segment above most popular sports watches - like Amazfit GTR, Huawei watch GT, even above the Ticwatch E and S. But it is more affordable than most of the WearOS smartwatches and also - cheaper than premium sports watches like the Garmin Fenix series, and costs less even than the Vivoactive line;
Arriving in a not too fancy box, but still looking decent, and well protected; inside the box we can find the watch - like most other Kospet models it arrives with a pre-installed screen protector. First very obvious fact - it is large! Just as comparison - 1.6’’ screen size, and 1.85 centimeters thick.
Underneath the display - there’s a quad-core mediate CPU, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage.
he biggest selling point here is the battery - since we compare with smartphone - yeah, with this 1260MAH battery it can last between 1 and 4 days, depending on the kind of usage.
There’s a 4G slot, Bluetooth, WiFi , GPS - everything that a regular smartphone will have, even a microphone and speaker. Also - a heartrate sensor. It is NOT waterproof, and also - doesn’t shine with outstanding build quality.
Moving on with the software - it’s Android - if you have a phone running on this OS - it will feel familiar. There are two navigation. The App launcher is rather easy to use, as long as you don’t have too many apps.
There’s a special mode which brings better compatibility for some apps, and basically it zooms them out.
If you use the SIM cars slot - the watch can be fully functional as a smartphone - and you can make phone calls; probably best way to do that is using a Bluetooth headset.
To the watch navigation again - nicely grouped - quick toggles, music control - and yeah - you can playback music that is stored on the watch locally; Spotify can be controlled too, of course;
Messaging - you cannot respond if the notification is forwarded from your phone, but if you run separate Whatsapp on the watch then it works. No continuous heart-rate tracking, and unfortunately weak implementation for sport activities: the embedded apps don’t even let you use the GPS. So maybe if you run Strava, it will feel a little better.
I was surprised to see a wireless update - which is good news and looks like Kospet will be providing some software support.
At the end - I am with kind of mixed feelings. Very much recommend for a device with SIM card, and having WearOS being quite weak at that side, maybe the Kospet Prime is one of the best with such functionality. But if you are seeking for sleep tracking and sport activities, I’m sure you can find better matches.

Nice review as always! BTW, I bought a Kospet Hope 3/32 in January, and this one has exactly the same HW (same SoC, one more useless camera), plus mostly the same FW with a few minor changes, so the Prime is tempting, but Kospet's support is kinda nonexistent - I know about the forum at Full Android Watches, but I love official support more -, and until they upgrade the HW and bump the Android version on it to 9 or 10, I won't buy another similar watch to my Kospet Hope. The Prime would be amazing with a dual layer display like Mobvoi's TicWatch Pro, so there could be always on time on the transflective LCD display, while there would be an AMOLED display as a lower layer for displaying the apps in full color. The IPS display of the Prime is a downgrade to the Hope's AMOLED display...

Check the Watch GT 2 by Huawei. The Kospet models are great for what they offer, especially if you need more like a second smartphone; They seem to do what AMazfit did with their watches - pretty much the same hardware and different design. Indeed - the Hope's display is a beauty!

Yes & No - it performs the task of making and receivings calls well. Audio is surprisingly good. However the screen size is a limitation that can't be overcome on smartwatches, regardless of brand or type. I have mine setup as a back up phone in case my main smartphone fails and as an emergency communication device if I happen to not have my normal smartphone with me.

@@TechMishka Hi, my main challenge is, in most cases, the inability to zoom in on text limits its use as a convenient communications device. Battery life is good as I use LTE and bluetooth functions and can get a full 24hrs with average use. The one issue I cannot seem to find a solution to, is the constant notification vibrations when using the Google Maps for directions on my cell phone. You mentioned this in your post.....did you find out how to stop it? Screen visibilty in the direct Australian sunlight is very poor, but not a deal-breaker. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the performance given the obvious limitations of smartwatch technology at this stage. The Prime is a step in the right direction.

I respond to questions as much and as soon as I can. The short answer is "yes you can", but it is not as easy as people would want. And you can make calls via this watch only if it has a SIM card.

Yeah - this often happens. The angle is tilted to the outside, but you can still capture part of your hand.

Is this a good option if I want to get rid of my phone entirely? I mostly use my phone for calls, spotify and whatsapp. I run a lot too. so may be the fitness trackers. I am not sure if tracking feature uses GPS. Will the watch survive a more than 22 hours?

I don't think that with such heavy usage it will last for more than a day, maybe day and a half. And whatsapp will be quite tough to use - typing will be quite a challenge.

If you are not worry about camera, just buy Huawei Gt2 and you can receive and make calls from your watch with Bluetooth connected. Gt2 is great watch and very affordable. You will not look back. NO Sim need!

hi there :) I just got my Kospet Prime!! but I noticed my watch display are very yellow. It seems that in your video your Kospet Prime also suffer from yellow tint when you compared side by side with the other smart watch. I have also used an overlay color calibration app and it seem to fix the color by simply turning blue way up. So I'm not sure I should send it back for a replacement... thank you

If the color calibration is similar to the one on the video - then that's it. The display is definitely not top-notch... So if you don't enjoy it after the calibration - better look for something with AMOLED.

true ... comparing IPS LTPS vs IPS, I have two full android watches now, both 1.6 inch screens - the Zeblaze Thor 4 pro [IPS LTPS] vs Kospet Prime 4G [IPS] ; in these 2 watch variants the Z TH 4 Pro out shines the Prime, in screen clarity & brightness, ... the whites on the LTPS - [Z T 4 Pro] are clean and White vs softer 'off white' on the Prime. I never need to 'wind-up' the screen brghtneess on the Thor 4 Pro, and yet i do on the Prime, usually to one down from Max brightness Perhaps there's an updated rom for the Prime to extract more goodness from its screen..but my watch is up to date in terms of the OTA updates ?
