Jimmy is on of the most underrated drummers , during his 90’s recording he did some amazing stuff .Every one goes on about Dave groul as if he was Phil Collins or Steven Adler. But Jimmy banging on those trash cans during cherub rock set the tone of the whole album .

@@mateusmf2737 yes that is a great tune. I mean I’m not trying too say that groul isn’t great. But there are other out as opposed to just him . Dave has a punk back ground where it Jimmy has a jazz influence witch you can hear in songs like Porcellina and the vast oceans. Then there the drummer from tool he quite good as well. Being a good musician it’s always about being technical ( witch unfortunately eat up a lot of my time, I should devote more to playing songs) but more so creating “ Atmosphere “ which Iha and Corgan most certainly created , also Peter hook and Bernard stumner of joy division . Not too mention Hamilton and headfeild . I think it really about finding that certain chemical combination too create that certain “ Atmosphere “ .

@@porcelinaofthevastoceans3903 I would have too say he is one of the greatest, sure there Keith moon and John bonham, they have there specific styles for there time periods, but there are others that are often neglected. Just because the mainstream choose to focus on certain individuals doesn’t mean we can’t open our ears too others . Even different types of sounds , from the electronic synth sets of the new wave/ New Romantics , sounds of the steal drum of reggae too the Progressive sounds of the African Congo’s . There is a wide range of drumming style , that have over shadowed by today’s lame stream sound of Taylor swift , Ed Sheridan and Justin Babers “ Twit wit pop “ music . You it incredibly dull and boring now , the music scene at one point was quite diverse. Where everyone was carving out there own sounds. Where as now it is a generic bowl of soup that all tastes the same.

It seems like a bunch of the comments are about praising Jimmy. If you like his drumming I would recommend the Jimmy Chamberlin Complex; their latest album Honor is super interesting (a mix of paychedelic and jazz). He also played with Frank Catalano on an album named Bye Bye Blackbird, mostly contemporary jazz. Skysaw, which he mentions here, is also a great band. I own the album Great Civilizations; sort of a new prog sound. Just showing Jimmy some love. One of the greatest drummer of our generation.

I wish he would’ve left the Pumpkins alone and started something new, wether that be with the same members but everything from the 2000s onwards are just really bad in comparison to the first 3. I know you shouldn’t compare every album they made to Siamese Dream or Gish but man they are some of the best records of the 90s, it’s like Billy gave up but carried on for financial reasons or something. @@xdef1ne I haven’t liked any of their albums since Machina but I think it’s unfair for the band to be forced by fans to make music they haven’t been interested in making since the 90s, and I totally understand Billy for wanting to change up sounds as he doesn’t want to keep failing to live up to Siamese Dream every album he puts out. I don’t like any of his new albums but I totally respect the change in sound over the past 20 years, can’t expect a band to ONLY play 90s music for their entire career or else they’d just become a gimmick band.

And respectively at 56 & 47, they seem to be in great health & shape. If they ever get back to performing again, I hope to eventually get to see them in person one of these days. Off topic, and maybe it's just me, but Jimmy is giving me vibes of both Tom Cavanagh ( who is a year older at 57, plays Harrison Wells in "The Flash") and Julian McMahon (also in his 50s at 52, most notable for playing Victor Von Doom in the arguably the more successful version of the "Fantastic 4" films), if both actors had a shared sibling.
