I’m new to The Smile, huge fan of RH. I wasn’t sure if that drum was digital…confirming that’s in fact a real guy amazing indeed!

@@DevourTheBleakI was on the fence about the smile. Finally gave up on ever getting a new Radiohead album and listened to the first two smile albums. They’re pretty incredible and to my surprise they don’t sound like Thom Yorke albums they sound very much like Radiohead! Can’t wait for this third album.

Genuinely think this is Thom's best vocal performance on the album. Those voice cracks at his upper register are so, so good.

Also, if Radiohead ever come together even just to play. They could easily fit this one after talk show as a little trait for themselves or the smile fans in a Radiohead concert with re arrangements from members. I think Colin Easley could pull even a better bass line xd

[Verse 1] Through the glass Look at you Just eyes and mouth Only saying words And then turning them 'round No matter what the situation Telling yourself this is nowhere [Pre-Chorus] You appear now and then you disappear Letting it slide, letting it slide [Chorus] Soon to complete the transformation And beginning all this all over again [Verse 2] Always changing the definition Fear always passing through No-one to worry about And nowhere to be Just a shadow of light in my dark Someone I knew so well before [Chorus] Soon to complete your transformation Then beginning all this all over [Outro] Through the glass Look at you Just eyes and mouth Tapping on any window

From 1:57 and onwards, this song just grabs me by the brainstem and forces me into some kind of undefinable state of pure bliss. This is exactly what Rainbows did to me back in the day. I feel like Cutouts is The Smile's equivalent to that record. A bit scattered or incohesive even at first glance, but fucking genius when letting it sit with you for a while.
