A Smiths B-side is such a lovely thing. These boys delivered. They sneezed better songs than any band over the last 40 years.

The houses you see at 0:34 are on Kings Road, Stretford, Manchester. Morrissey lived at No 384 with his parents and sister! I went up in the 90s and spoke to his old neighbour who was doing some gardening. He made me laugh because he was a little old man and he said that he preferred Meat is Murder to The Queen is Dead. I found it so touching that he'd taken time to listen to The Smiths. He said that Morrissey was a very shy boy (surprise surprise). I asked him if he could give me a clue as to where Morrissey might have moved to, and he was very helpful. We didn't have the internet in those days and so I had to go to Manchester central library and trawl through reams of pages in the electoral register in order to finally find him. But the old man put me in the right direction as he knew the general area where Morrissey was residing at that time.

Moody nostalgic monochrome video compliments a moody and nostalgic song. So Brad's new backscrubber is teal huh? I'm sure Morrissey would approve ... 🚿

For me he's impersonating a female groupie who's talking to her favorite rock star (himself). Hence the YWCA reference, the posture of total submission/obsession ("I've been six years on your trail") but at the same time with some criticism (she liked him more in the beginning when he wasn't welll known... typical of a rock fan).

Should try ‘ask’ or ‘the boy with the thorn in his side’ or ‘please, please, please…’ or ‘Shakespeares sister’ to name but a few!

I think every Smiths fan would like you to react to ''That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore''
