This is my favorite smiths video ever because it’s such a mess 1. The music starts before Johnny starts playing and he acts like nothing happened 2. Morrissey doesn’t even have a microphone 3. Something really funny happens at around the 2 minute mark, if you pay attention to Andy around that time you’ll see it 4. The instruments aren’t even plugged into anything 5. Johnny just altogether stops playing at the very end and starts dancing

Lone Ranja Yes, there were plenty of flowers and petals. But the point of having them in his back pocket was because there wasn't mic equipment for live singing. So, he wanted to show the crowd what they were actually getting. Pretty neat if you ask me. I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Actually, this is not from a French TV, but from a Belgium TV. It is from a program called Generation 80 and this was meant to be broadcasted on 19 december 1983, but it never went on air. Until this post only a 1min 30 sec of the performance was made available in 2010 and now it is complete. So, many thanks to unveil this rarity from the vault!

when I was in HS, I never listened to The Cure, The Smith's, or Morrissey, I was more of a metal head. The majority of my friends were into this music, going out to house parties or clubs, this is what was played, I went along because well house parties and clubs. Now as an adult, I find myself appreciating their music more and more.
