Cat owners should take responsibility for their own pets. If they stray into other people's gardens then they take the risk that whats in there is not always friendly. For her to try to get pythons banned then surely they should realise that more people suffer from toxoplasmosis due to cats crapping in their gardens. I have snakes and dogs, How would cat owners like it if we just let our dogs go free to wander and crap on their property??? Nice to hear your side of the story Darren.

Plane and simple its the cat owners fault. The cat shouldn't of been in another persons yard.

Like someone else said, would you let the cat roam if there was a big dog over the fence? And, even some little dogs will rip a cat apart in seconds (I've personally known Jack Russells for one that would). And don't know about over there, but here we also have poisonous snakes, cars, people, cats finding rats that have been poisoned, raccoons, oppossums. I have cats and snakes (and dogs,etc) and my cats are INSIDE. Having them outside unless in enclosed areas is Russian Roulette.

part two: I have met to many idiot snake owners over the years and its sad. Burmese and Reticulated Python should not be a casual pet store sale, while I hate to see govt get involved as well. I do agree that cats are responsible for the killing of so many native bird population and all cat owner should atleast have bells attached to collars.

seriously, whats the difference if a neighbors dog kills the cat? a dog also poses a much greater threat to any tresspassing animal especially a human. Its not like they met up in a public park or something, the cats were in his garden.

Snakes eat small animals that get too close to them. Cats are small furry animals that roam. It's hardly a surprise. It might be sad but it's not criminal and to try and amend the law over animals doing what their instincts tell them to is a ridiculous waste of time. We should have pet licensing for all pets to protect them from owners who have done no research and have no idea what they are taking on. Too many animals are hurt and abandoned each year through human ignorance.

What chance would a cat have up against a ball Python? Would it successfullt constrict the Cat if the Cat attacked?

I disagree with most of the comments. Cats are going to roam and while the they may pick up on the scent of the snake as he said the cat wouldnt stand a chance with the snake striking from a tree-bush. I believe he is negligible and gives snake owners a bad name. I own four diffrent types of carpet pythons and would never leave my snakes unattended. My little girl Princes has had to close calls with red tail hawks here in northern California.

jack bullough he's my uncle and when I was young squash was so friendly. Animals naturally do this but it's a shame. I have 4 cats my self
