Hi Jamie, our first snow last week only lasted 8 hours as it started raining . There were so many birds in your garden eating 🤣 When you get home from your travels it will be time to put up your Christmas decorations. It will hard , your first Christmas without Sherpa but it will be ok. I got through my first without my husband , there were tears but I knew he would want the decorations up! I was the same when the snow came, especially with foot prints. My girl loved the snow too, even though she was a Labrador. I even built a snowman, just a big kid at heart. As long as you have fun on your adventure, it doesn't matter about the weather. We can't wait to come along with you. 💙

It snowed over 8 inches where I live. It was horrible. My little cavapoo hated it too as she couldn't see the grass. When it started to thaw it was a sheet of black ice that stayed for 4 days. We were all stuck at the bottom of my road and couldn't get to the grit bin. Even my ice grippers were almost useless. It wasn't a fun time at all. I had to take my dog out several times a day and I dreaded each time. I have no kind words to say about snow. No buses running, cars stuck, people falling down and breaking bones etc.

Perth, Australia, we haven't had any snow for 80 odd years now, the mountains down south will get a flurry of snow if the temperature is right, east coast of Oz always gets snow. There is 2 good things about snow,the country side looks gorgeous and everyone drives really slow. Those birds were hungry. Snow is a challenge the first time people get out. They forget how to drive. It’s more challenging when an area doesn’t or hasn’t gotten snow in along time. Our 2” of snow melted within 2 days.

It’s hard to believe when we had , in most places in the south, a small amount of snow which melted really quickly . My daughters partner is half Finnish , in Finland It’s guaranteed that the roads are clear by 6 o’clock in the morning for people to go to work. He tells me that in the winter, the government pays the farmers to use their machinery to clear the roads when they can’t be forming.
