as someone who has never played TM, I appreciate the explanation on the hitbox update
@CoconutMigrating5 ай бұрын
The hit box is just how a video game determines if two objects are touching. The hitbox isn’t actually the exact outline of the car because that would be computationally intense. The rally car hit box is basically 3 large circles which are shaped like it was shown in the video. If any part of that circle touches the ground the game takes it as a collision, which in turn drastically reduces the cars speed. So that’s a big problem when the hitbox at the middle of the car is extended way below the bottom of the model. This means you can “collide” when landing when you land perfectly flat. The update changed this part of the hitbox to be smaller and more accurately reflect the actual model.

Oh no 1:50 Blue Yeti (or in fact any of their products) are such a beginner trap to fall for. I personally recommend running a MPM1000-U (the U standing for USB so no XLR connection which will lower sound quality but not require an additional converter) as an entry-level microphone available for about $70 tital if you include a relatively basic boom arm. No Yeti crap, avoid that at all costs!

It’s a microphone
@lizkeres25935 ай бұрын
I have a fifine microphone for 30€ and it actually does its job really well for the price. It sounds relatively okay and with Nvidia broadcast enabled it doesn't pick up every single sound. Also, because it's 30€ it's not that you can expect crazy good quality but it also doesn't disappoint you because it's better than most headphone mics
@Bllksem5 ай бұрын
5:00 If you had the same amount of skill on joystick as you do on kb would this still be true? If not it’s just best to keep on the skill improvement grind. Speaking from experience you get a lot better a lot faster if you just make the switch and don’t look back. Playing hybrid like you are slows this down *a lot.*
@OP-Lifter5 ай бұрын
If he had the same amount of skill joystick would've been faster considering analog devices are just way more precise
@Bllksem5 ай бұрын
@@OP-Lifter that’s what I think too, but with the way he said it, he made it sound like on that map that wouldn’t necessarily be the case. I think if he wants to get good with joystick he needs to use it full time, even on the stadium car, even where it is even with mnk. At least that’s how I got good on mnk in fps games after years on console. If you use a new input device and nothing else regardless you will get better with it a lot faster.
@OP-Lifter5 ай бұрын
@@Bllksem It would, but I think the reason he doesn't do it is because in competitions (like COTD) he would basically have no chance anymore. Although this might not be the case but it's the only reason I could imagine. Cuz if he tried it for a while and didn't like it he could always switch back

It also has god-awful gain. This isn't *terrible* if you're using it for streaming only because you can just boost it by ~12dB in OBS but if you just want to sound good in voice calls then it's not worth it. Unless you want to faff around with Voicemeeter or you're using Linux, that is.

snowball and blue yeti are bad microphones. sorry wirtual but we gotta end the awful yeti trend (plus I hate the snowball)
@inthefade5 ай бұрын
They're okay for beginners, but they really get strange when off-axis even slightly. I haven't looked at the internals, but my guess is that it is not the diaphragm but the actual housing design that is causing that. They are totally fine to start with though. SM7Bs are good but way too expensive; A 58 with a bit of an EQ curve on the lows and a pop filter is just as good imo. But asking newbies to invest in a decent interface for a dynamic mic is a lot, so the snowballs are a good introductory mic. Then give it to a nephew or niece who wants to get into recording once you're ready to upgrade. 90% of sound issues with content creators is room sound treatment and bad mic placement anyway.
@river5595 ай бұрын
Thats the exact reason why I opted to buy something else when I went mic shopping. The blue yeti was about $70 at the best buy I went to, and the hyper x quadcast mic I got was about twice that. My justification was from family and peer review of the yetis (decent for the price but had a lot of issues), and I rather pay a bit more for something I know would last longer, even if I plan on upgrading later down the road. The mic on the $20 old gun headset I got years ago was on par with my general experience with using blue yetis when a friend from high school would stream, which is decent enough for someone just getting started, but the quality just isn't there most of the time.

@daylen5775 ай бұрын
I know it's very unlikely Wirtual reads this comment, but recommending a Blue Yeti/Snowball is pretty bad. The price/quality of them is garbage. Instead, get like a Behringer C1 or a Samson C02 with a cheap audio interface (like a U-Phoria UMC22). The audio quality will be 10x that of a Blue Yeti but it'll actually cost less and give you an upgrade path.

Yeah, can definitely confirm that streamers live and die based on _schedule consistency_ (and... also being watchable "raw" with zero editing. if your content requires even a little audio editing to be watchable - say, you cough a lot - then streaming might not be a good idea). I fail on _both_ points, I constantly have to edit out coughs from the mic waveform and I have no control over what times I'm able to make content, so streaming is straight up never going to be possible for me...

@JohnBLZ5 ай бұрын
honestly, consistency is the 2nd best thing you need. What you need the most as a new streamer is to NOT rush your connections with other streamers. Small Streamer Twitch is the most toxic place on the internet, everyone claims they're good vibes but they're no stranger to virtue signaling, AKA inventing drama about you and trying to cancel you so that they look better compared to you and take your viewers. Build yourself organically for ~6 months, avoid follow-for-follow schemes, THEN once you have regulars you trust, do collabs and such. Other streamers being toxic is why most small streamers take mental health breaks so often, some even taking one week off every month. You're not supposed to require thick skin to play video games.

As a Controller player my only complaint is that with Action Key there is not a lot of skill involved because you press a button and then steer exactly the amount you need. Sure it is difficult to learn and press the button and remove it again and stuff but once you have it it feels kinda like a huge advantage. Sure as Controller player you can steer 1-10% and stuff like that but it is so difficult to get that precicley. Or is it possible with Controller as well to make Action key? Then it would make no difference :D

regarding sound equipment, honestly just get a half decent headset mic if you arent just straight balling with loads of extra cash laying around. (hyperX makes some really solid headsets with pretty decent mics, if you want a recommendation.) going for a dedicated microphone will often sound worse initially, since those mics are generally much more sensitive (in order to sound better) so just using the built in desk stand wont work. every keypress, mouse movement, and god forbid a desk bump sends vibration straight into the microphone, sometimes rendering audio totally unusable. for a dedicated mic, youll need a boom arm/floor stand, a shock mount, and a pop filter, which is gonna significantly increase the cost. as someone who dumped $300 on just my microphone setup, without even having a twitch/youtube channel yet, its not worth it. (it does feel really cool having this baller setup though, and my friends get to hear me yell at them through discord in max quality)

10 action keys will give keyboard players an advantage over controller. the reason it would give advantage is because then you could have a wider range of steering angles you can hold the car to, or as even with a controller, you still have some variant. You're not going to be able to get 34% every single time you want to steer specifically at that percentage. With action keys, it holds a very specific percentage of steering
