The complexities of these characters gives the overall narrative a three dimensionality to it and you really feel for these characters that were betrayed such as Eduardo played by (Andrew Garfield). A 3D animated short, available of youtube, called “Alleycats”, is also another best example of this kind of ending. A ninja-cat protagonist, kills the antagonist, a worrier-cat, for killing our protagonist’s father (getting his want), but only to realise he had a son, and fail to realise that he needed to forgive, and move on to find peace (not getting his need).

btw the sound he was making wasn't a glottal stop since a glottal stop is the absence of sound. It was a [k’] ejective consonant which is a click-like sound. A glottal stop is still considered a sound in languages since it functions as one, but doesn't make a sound on it's own. It can only be heard if the vocal folds are vibrating and then abruptly stops or suddenly begin vibrating [aʔa], or when airflow suddenly stops coming from your lungs [hʔh], so in general a sound that needs subglottal airflow More often the vocal folds don't completely stop vibrating and it makes just a short vocal fry sound. The creaks (together) can be interpreted as a glottal stop and the individual creaks have release-like acoustic signatures which can be confused for the release which normal stop consonants make. Which is why he thought it made a sound on it's own even though it has to be next to other sounds for contrast The glottal stop [ʔ] is an allophone of /t/ which means it can replace the [t] sound and people don't notice it. /t/ often doesn't sound like [t], it comes in a variety of allophones. Learning to notice things which isn't contrastive (doesn't make a difference) in your language is hard Resource: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJCTh4xnbLqZsJYsi=y02aweAWG8QBX_Jg

In the screenplay, in the climatic scene Aaron calls back to the opening scene with Sean’s character telling Mark that he was gonna introduce him to girls he wouldn’t normally get to meet and then Sean walks off to check if they’ve crossed 1,000,000 users and mark mutters “you’d do that for me?” sarcastically. I wonder why they chose to omit that from the movie. Maybe too on the nose I suppose. I feel like it’s plausible enough a statement Sean would make and obviously the point of the scene is Mark reflecting on how far they’ve come at the cost of his relationships

First of all, thanks so much for the high quality content as always. Second, I wonder if there is any sub-category endings along with these 4 typical endings? Ex: I watched Homunculus (2021) and I noted that the ending of the leading character, Nakoshi, is a happy ending since he both achieved his want (dare to face his past) and his need (accept his past and live on). While the supporting character, Ito, has a bittersweet ending because he only achieved his want (face his past) but not his need (accept and live on)

Hey guys, I have a question about the four ending format specifically the Semi-sweet ending. Does it only count as semi-sweet if the protagonist doesn’t achieve their want period or only if they don’t achieve their initial want? I’m trying to implement this structure into something I’m writing and i don’t fully understand
@chrisjfox8715 Жыл бұрын
I’m not a writer but i would say that as long as you maintain control of the balance then go for it. It’s ok, and even realistic, that a characters wants and needs may shift priority over the course of the film…as long as you make it clear.
