Interesting discussion, guys. I think you missed out one key detail that is outlined at the start of the film and circled back to at the end. The film's flashback sequences are all illustrations of the testimony of Eduardo, the Winklevoss', and Erica. When you look at the film with this context Mark's character becomes a lot greyer. Mark describes some of Erica's testimony as "made up" and his lawyers call the testimony "85% exaggeration". The last scene of the film where Mark is talking to Rashida Jones is actually the most interesting to me as it's one the few times we see Mark outside of a flashback or in a humiliating deposition. He's insecure over the fact that she might see him as a bad guy, he enquires if she's hungry as she's only been eating salad, and he's attentive when she gives her opinion on how things will play out in court. This is all kind of incongruous to flashback-Mark who doesn't seem to care about anyone but himself and his own opinions. I think that's the crux of the "You're not an asshole. Your just trying so hard to be." line. The actions that have gotten him to this point are the actions of an asshole, but we're never really sure why he felt the need to make them. (Obviously, this is all based on film-Mark who is much more interesting than the garbage pile that is real life Zuckerberg.)

Not exactly a film about a social media company, but there is a great series Made in Finland depicting the people related with the invention of Nokia mobile phones. Season 2 coming out 2023.

I don't like social network. My least favorite fincher movie. Still recognized is wall crafted and is always interesting hear about it
