Such a great and original band back then with tunes full of surprises, textures and dynamics: and it is worth stressing that they were real melodies, too.

I remember this on TV, as some one pointed out this was introduced by Jo Melia. I remember him talking about some warehouse in London being converted into flats for £100,000. That would not buy you a manhole cover to sit on now.

L'arrivée de Karl Jenkins a marqué la fin de Soft Machine. Une brève résurrection quand Allan Holdsworth est passé. Je les ai vus en septet (69), avec Holdsworth (74) et la dernière tournée avec Ratledge (77 environ). Triste à mourir.

C est juste mais je pense que les guitaristes de type mitrailleur à la mahavishnu ont définitivement tué soft machine.. jusqu a seven ça s écoute.. ensuite...c est dead

LOL nice slip. Carl Perkins wrote 'Blue Suede Shoes'. Karl Jenkins, is playing here, (and later wrote 'Adiemus') .I'd quite like to hear Soft Machine backing Carl Perkins..... An amazing band. You're right - it is off 'Six'. Thanks - you made me smile.

Probably my favourite line-up. Only saw the Wyatt / Dean line-up once but saw this one so many times. Great band - much missed.

The Legendary Soft Machine , with the unbelieveable Mike Rattlegde on the magic Fender Rhodes and too fantastic : Karl Perkins on Saxophones , John Marshall on Drums / Percussions and Hugh Hopper on Bass ! this amazing track is i think in the " Six" Album ! There was video of Mike Ratledge showing and explaining possibilities of using effects on his keyboards from the same BBC TV session I think, but seems to be gone. Any possibility you have it? Thanks anyway.

I remember this as well. the introducer was saying how clever they were for using a german word, like those who say how " articulate " footballers are who can put a couple of sentences together. they were never the same after robert wyatt left.

Saw this lineup in Brighton and the set appeared on the live concert recordings on "Six " . Not as good as the Wyatt , Dean band but a memorable group from their long history .

Che band! In tutte le sue fasi. La amo forse meno nel periodo di Holdsworth, anche se la grandezza di quel chitarrista non si discute. Lo sperimentalismo dei primi due album, la maturità di Third, la grande stagione di 4, 5 e 6... Che fenomenale stagione della musica!

I don't think so, the melody doesn't goes like that, either the harmony I'm not sure but in music "gesolreut" means something that starts or has predominance on the fifth grade of a scale That makes more sense because they use a lot of dominant things on this song I cant explain it very well, english Is not my language

Gesolreut è tratto da Six album doppio uno live ed uno in studio e secondo me assieme a Seven e a Bundles resta uno dei loro migliori del dopo Wyatt Comunque anche Fifth e Softs e Land of cockaine non sono da disprezzare

@@enniosavi7064 i gusti son gusti per carita':ma secondo me entrata la chitarra si da' il colpo di grazia alla creativita' che ancora permeava "Six",se solo Ratledge avesse continuato almeno sulla strada di brani a la Terry Riley-Steve Reich(cioe' i minimalisti americani)come "Soft Weed Factor" oppure"Chloe &..."penso che Hopper non sarebbe andato via,etc...[mai capita questa emozione per chitarre sbrodolanti a la Holdsworth]...ma davvero pensate che i migliori SOFTS siano quelli del 1974/1975???

Interesting for how it shows something seldom mentioned: how much Ratledge follows drummers for his rhythm, whether Wyatt or Marshall. But this is a typical Jenkins effort - too composed and lacking in the improvisational brilliance, at its best, of earlier stuff when Jenkins wasn't in charge for his well-composed, pleasant and minimalist, wallpaper music.
