The SOG Super Bowie was my first SOG fixed blade and it definitely is super. The same great design of the popular SOG series just bigger. Modern and still able to give a nod to the classic Vietnam war blades that established the brand it is worth the effort to own.

@@haveaknifeday I too own both , but the 2.0 handle is soo small in my hand and the super bowie handle is ...too big. (unsuable in the wilderness sadly) its merely a display piece or a nice tool to terminate life , thats for sure. who made the kydex sheath for you ?

actually real SOG from the early days are the seki japan (SK5) ones , not the taiwan ones (Aus-8) ...it was a real drop in terms of quality and qc but now its own by GSM its ...even more ridiculously low in quality / value for the price. (worst)

i have the muela variant, its called the bufalo, its basically the same blade shape, i dont see any benefits to this blade shape except that it looks cool, definitely a combat knife first and foremost

Perhaps the videos are more from a collectors aspect? Maybe the price point is such that the channels that do, “destruction” tests avoid it. Also, it depends on if you’d want to use it for bushcraft. When I was in Alaska doing winter warfare training, I used the supplied axes, machetes to make my shelter.

Its a nice looking knife, but I will stick with my USMC Ka-Bar, its about the same size, if I am not mistaken.

I’ve added two Ka-Bar’s, one classic leather stack with the other a tan synthetic. Also, a Ka-Bar Dog’s head. This will never replace the Ka-Bar but it has its own merits.

@@haveaknifeday Yes it does and although it's not as favorable to most Americans as the KaBar USMC fighting knife, it looks so much better and formidable as a pure combat blade and not a utility knife. 🦅⚔️✨⚖️✨⚔️🦅

@George Michael Ah but I got my Ka-Bar back in the early 80's, and there is even a blue print for the knife on the box, and in the paper work, which I still have. So mine at least is not a rat tail. Oh, because I can see the end of the tang, in the butt cap.

Over the years the steel in the KA-BAR has been upgraded to 1095 Cro-Van, but the knife remains largely unchanged from the original. It is a full-tang knife, albeit, a narrow tang.

They do their job but are definitely not the best we’ve ever seen. I usually will get an aftermarket custom kydex from Black Bear Custom Kydex. He can even do a holder for the sharpening stone if that is what you want.

В прошлом я говорил с Кабаром о ножнах. Культовый американский нож должен находиться в ножнах американского производства. Я бы посоветовал использовать немного кондиционера для кожи на ножнах и кожаной ручке, если он будет использоваться во влажной среде. Это может изменить цвет кожи. но, по крайней мере, это на доступной стороне. Я согласен с тем, что SOG чертовски хорош и стоит соответственно.

И как и Extrema ratio, где все до последней детали производится в Италии (кроме австрийской стали), так и Ka Bar должен быть произведен полностью в США. Но хочется в защиту ножен сказать следующее: у них свой неповторимый запах кожи и я теперь точно знаю, как пахнет Ka Bar😄 P.S спасибо, что пишешь с помощью переводчика 🤝

Most people getting into “modern” SOG knives won’t even known that they used to make their knives in SK5 much less that they were made in Seki. Going to “Only SOG” or eBay you can find them but right out of today’s factory? That SOG doesn’t exist anymore. If I’m not mistaken, SOG's post 2006 were Taiwan made Aus8. The company was purchased along with Cold Steel by GSM which is now why they are starting to have some similarities of products but the chances of them making them in Japan again? I would’ve really liked to have been aware enough to have purchased one when I was in the army in the late 80’s-90’s but time machines still don’t exist.
