The detailed translation of this excerpt of His discourse on 21 November 1995 is given below:
1. Love and Service represent the same Truth.
2. For mankind, the two wings are love and service.
3. Just as a bird can fly with the help of its two wings…
4. Like that, a man with the two wings of love and service, can understand the innate quality of human nature and move about freely, everywhere.
5. You need not search for and investigate Truth.
6. Truth is present everywhere.
7. The Truth that is present everywhere, what is the meaning of searching for it?
8. Therefore, the search for Truth only means to bring out the Truth latent within.
9. This eternal Truth is present in all.
10. All are forms of God.
11. God is present in all beings.
12. Everything is Brahman.
13. The Sathya Sai Organizations have been started to know one’s own Self.
14. What is the principle aim of the Organization?
15. “All are the sparks of the Divine.”
16. You are not just the parts of the body.
17. Not just the parts of nature.
18. You are the very Atma.
19. You are the spark of the Divine.
20. The Organization has been started with the sole purpose to know this Truth and to share this Truth with everybody, all around.
21. This is not for changing or converting anybody.
22. All speakers so far have expressed that Bhagawan is bringing about a transformation in the mind.
23. When do you expect transformation?
24. Transformation is possible only after receiving information.
25. Therefore, to know the spirit of the Self (Atma), you need to get the right information.
26. The Organization is started with the purpose of passing on this information (which brings transformation) with others.
27. The main component is Service.
28. We have to understand this first Truth that the body is gifted to render selfless service.
29. The body is there to serve others selflessly.
30. The body is not meant for selfishness and self-interest. It is there to render selfless service.
31. This selfless service broadens your feelings.
32. … it destroys the ego.
33. … it gives rise to bliss.
34. There are certain bad habits.
35. Members of our Organization should inculcate some good habits.
36. (In Hindi, they say) As is the food, so are the thoughts.
37. As are the feelings, so are the experiences.
38. So, we have to partake of proper food in a proper way.
39. It is only because of food that we get bad and negative thoughts.
40. So also, we have to give up smoking.
41. Also give up drinking.
42. There is a fourth one.
43. Gambling.
44. Those with spiritual aspirations should give up immediately, these things like smoking, drinking (alcohol), non-vegetarian food and gambling.
45. All these four are full of suffering.
46. Sai Organizations are also not for propaganda.
47. We don’t need any propaganda.
48. Who invited you here?
49. It is the relationship of love.
50. It is the continuous flow of your love towards Bhagawan.
51. What sort of relationship is it?
52. It is a connection of love to love and heart to heart.
53. You love Bhagawan and Bhagawan loves you. That is the constant connection that has made so many of you assemble here.
54. You have to understand another thing about our Organization.
55. You all have participated in this Conference.
56. One important thing is the service rendered by our volunteers to maintain cleanliness in the campus can never be estimated in any way!
57. The volunteers are true sevaks - workers.
58. In our Organization there are lakhs of workers who are prepared to sacrifice.
59. We should not have the feeling that they are ‘workers’.
60. We are also ‘workers’.
61. All are workers.
62. Everyone is a servant.
63. You think you are a master!
64. No!
65. You think you are a President.
66. You are not a president.
67. Bhagwan is aware of the good work done by our Organization members.
68. In fact, it need not be declared separately because there is no Organization in the world equal to the Sathya Sai Organization.
69. In no other organization you will ever see the food supply, water serving as you have seen here.
70. Not only this…
71. We should understand the patience of the foreigners.
72. They are used to living in rich mansions.
73. They have everything provided at doorsteps.
74. They lie on comfortable beds.
75. But today, these overseas devotees spend time in simple accommodation. They don’t have ‘Dunlop’ beds nor bed coffee or cheese. They adjust with everything. This is a true sign of spirituality.
76. Adjustment is a spiritual practice (Sadhana).
77. When do you have adjustment?
78. There will be adjustment when there is understanding.
79. The understanding is that “He is my Swami, He is my God” that leads to adjustment.
80. This is true spiritual practice.
81. So, have understanding first.
82. Having understood, practice thereby.
83. When you practise, you will be blissful.
