It' s beautiful for us to read this "exchange " between two great artists. Treasures. We read so mad, stupid purposes in our society, We need this so much. And Nick Cave with his site " red hand files" has created something unique, extraordinary. THANKS, THANKS. ( I was in this concert in Paris, an artistic, human beauty).

Thank you Bobfan! l think it's so great that you shared this! I had read what Bob said and Nick's letter of response! So nice how one word from Bob means so much and especially an acknowledgement of agreement! Encouragement with love can really have a deep impact 🥰sometimes! Keep up the great work BF - it is much appreciated!

what a joy to read this. Perhaps both of them are readers of their elder W. S. Merwin, "There are so many words for sadness/ and for joy so few/ maybe none/ that can tell/ the sound of that secret spring"

Well I am glad that both Cave and Dylan found some common ground in that song (or the concert as a whole ). I can relate to it myself I think. I am also glad that Warren Ellis is credited as co-songwriter because he has done a lot for Cave in the past many years.

I once experienced joy after I took Ectasy and it has happened naturally but not often enough.Nick and Bob are the knights of constant sorrow it may even have improved them as artists and as exceptional human beings It certainty has deepened. them

Michael McLoughlin I thank you too Bobfan I thought this was great & to be praised by Bob Dylan has to be special. Just wondering have you heard Nick Cave & Shane Magowan singing "What a wonderful world" together-you'd like it.

Bob is sad, unsatisfied and full of sorrrow. I met him in ERFURT/ KREUZGASSE at the 7th of octobre. Mr. DYLAN, if you read this, give me a sign, send me a message. By the way, this joy-song depresses you. I can't find joy in this song. HAVE MERCY ON ME

@Mamablissios I agree with you, you are so right. He has to confess to Jesus. Before then, he is not allowed to leave this world. No offense, Bob. 😇 🎸

Respect to an amazing artist but it sounds like a gin and razorblades song, not joy. IMO.

For me it's more a prayer against misfortune, a desire to seek joy in spite of everything. And then, joy is not happiness...
