I would absolutely pay extra and be done with bulky pcs if only they could get it quieter and not hot. Last gaming laptop I had would get so hot and sound like a turbo engine and seemed to slowly get worse within a few years of using. Turned me off of laptops but still interested
@NotebookcheckReviews2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, it is hard to get both things in one machine. That said, some very powerful and still relatively quiet notebooks are on the market now. The Razer Blade series is pretty good in that regard, and we are working on a video about the Scar 15/17 from Asus ROG. They are also really decent in their standard performance mode!

I have used a ROG G751JT (4710HQ/970M) for the past 8 years. It’s quite heavy (4.24kg), yet it’s cooling system is top notch: 75C for the CPU and 70C for the GPU under gaming load. For me, a perfect desktop replacement that yields a chance to carry it around on trips. I am thinking on buying a new one, and will use the same criteria: an excellent cooling system, despite being heavy.

There are small form factor gaming desktops. They won’t be as powerful though

You cant just upgrade laptops. They are engineered to squeeze all power and heat sinks. Add something, less power, more heat.
@swift147272 жыл бұрын
I don't need to upgrade this machine at all because of the high specs this laptop comes with, a beautiful machine and I love it, I also don't meddle with heatsink and repasting, it will cause more harm than any good, I have stopped repasting laptops nearly 7-8 years because it made no benefits regarding the temperatures and even if I get any reduction in temperatures, they were only a placebo effect.

@@NotebookcheckReviews most definitely. I'm switching from my Nitro 5 to Lenovo Legion or Asus G15 because of this. Even dell has AMD in the their Alienware lineup I don't know which deal Acer has with Intel..
@NotebookcheckReviews2 жыл бұрын
Who knows, that said. It is not like Intel makes bad CPUs ;) It just really depends what you are looking for. But yeah, it is a good thing brands are starting to offer the same quality tier of machines with both CPUs. So the choice is in the end up to the customer.

You would have to remove the mainboard to get to the SSD, which most users will probably not be willing to do. And I would wonder if the warranty would cover it.

@@NotebookcheckReviews easy access to the cooling system and storage. Gaming laptops need to be cleaned often in order to maintain good thermal performance, while I also store a lot of files on my laptops, hence storage upgrades need to be easy. RAM is important too of course, it just doesn't need to be upgraded that often.

@@TabalugaDragon Just a question from someone not into gaming, can you run games off an external storage device, especially one with its own power source? I would have thought that the main benefit of USB-C 4 is that bandwidth for superfast external storage?
@TabalugaDragon2 жыл бұрын
@@andyH_England yes, you can. My cousin has been doing that for years. Just keep in mind that due to the ways USB works there may be delays sometimes compared to internal storage. But usually everything's fine.
