It's not "Olivia" (like in Shakespear's Twelfth Night) it's "Livia." David Chase said that the character of Livia is based on his mother, but named after the mother of Augustus (Octavian) in Robert Graves' novels "I, Claudius" and "Claudius the God." That Livia was evil just like Tony's mother. There's a excellent 1976 BBC series based on "I, Claudius" which at this point is a little dated, but still worth watching.

That's a great example of good the show is. You got two people at a table not talking and you are fascinated and you don't want it to end.

The quiet scene at the end was Edie Falco’s favorite scene of the series. Quietly going through Carmella’s day

The significance of the final scene seems to be Tony won’t even considering talking to his wife about his emotional problems. His therapist gave him the boot... getting a new therapist he learned is impossible... so you’d think Tony would try opening up to his wife. But he never even considers it.

has there been any indication that mary recognized dr.melfi (lorraine bracco) from her very different role in goodfellas? she's royalty in italian-american media from these 2 roles. we have deniro, pacino, and pesci, but what other female besides bracco has 2 such iconic characters? talia shire for instance was in the godfather films, but her role in rocky isnt focused on the same culture at all.

Writing down character names was a really good idea. As someone watching the show for the first time as well (I'm just starting S4), there are a ton of characters, and a lot of them disappear and then re-appear for stretches of episodes.
@gregsgoogle29473 ай бұрын
Or characters will appear out of no where in dreams or subconscious fantasy type scenes. This goes for dead characters too. One reason this show is so great. Tons of unique characters that at any point can come & go.

Part of why Junior didn't rat Tony out is because it would mean admitting that he wasn't in control. His own pride and hubris means that if he was to say that, he's basically accepting the reality that Tony has pretty much surpassed him and there's no changing it.

At the time this aired 16 was the driving license age in NJ. Now you can still get your permit at 16 which means you can drive with a licensed driver in the car. 17 you can get a proviisional license that has restrictions and at 18 after having driven with the provisional for 1 year youncan get your full drivers license.

I believe it’s this episode where Tony, just after talking to Janice looks at his pool and you see the bottom feeder, an Easter egg of Janice being the bottom feeder. This is the best show

Yeah depends on the state, not sure what the current laws are but in NC you could drive with the learners permit on your own, but only between the hours of like 7am and like 6pm or something like that(Im much older now) Basically drive on your own during daylight hours, or unless going to or from a school function.
