The "telephone" scene is too funny, especially with them ending it with the FBI getting in on the gossip

My thoughts about Carmella have changed over the years. When Sopranos first aired, I felt bad for her and the way Tony treated her. After a rewatch or two I saw that Carm is a hypocrite like everyone else on the show. Now that I’m older and wiser I think - Carmella is pretty hot, how did I miss that before?

I stopped liking Camilla after she came off threatening when she came and saw the neighbours sister at the law firm.

@@Paul77ozee Can’t disagree. Carmella is definitely a user but that scene seemed a bit out of place for her character - at least compared to later seasons. I think as the show went on the writers took a number of the characters in a slightly different direction. For example look at early season Sil - yelling at the ref with his shirt off during the soccer game or joking and doing the Michael Corleone interpretation. Then look at Sil in the later seasons, he is much more serious and very measured in what he says. ** I know a lot of people like S1 but I tend to skim through it on rewatch because it almost seems out of place compared to later seasons (definitely the first episode). But you can also make the case that people changed as Tony evolved from Captain to Boss.

@@YakacrakamambA l love season 2to5. You can see in those season that real mobster have given the writers some more insight into the characters. I heard that a mobbed up guy told David Chase that a boss doesn’t wear shorts. Then later on in the show Carmine Snr says that to Tony. The problem with season 1 and a little bit of season 2 was, there were some things that real gangster wouldn’t do an example is shooting a guy in his boat on a jetty or in a cabin of a rented boat with Pussie. But whenever there’s a marathon of all 6 seasons on cable, I’ll end up watching most of it.

As of now (in my opinion) there has only been one channel on this platform that gave a genuine and real reaction to this show but man... you guys bring a whole different perspective and I really do appreciate that I am a seasoned soprano fan probably have re-watched the series throughout my life more than 20 times and all I got to say is, you guys are great. I'm sure I speak for the majority when I say I appreciate you taking the time to really watch and understand this masterpiece of a show and I cannot wait until you get to the end. #cheers

The theme of this episode seems to be "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in". Mob life is a lifelong commitment, like it or not, and characters who try to move out of it - Tony B, Carmella - find they can't because they are infected by it.

I think Tony B would have stayed with Kim if he didn’t find that money. That money gave him a taste of the lifestyle he had before prison.

A further appreciation/understanding of this show comes with the realization that Carmela is (in many ways) as corrupt and complicit as almost every other Sopranos character.

My weekly dose of Sopranos reactions... Life is now complete. When you're all finished, will you start over from zero with "The Boys", maybe...? :D Here's hoping! lol (Maybe not... But damn, it'd be so glorious!) Episode 5 really shows how misogynist men think and function. They expect a woman to immediately go jump in the sack with another guy unless you watch them constantly. You can't trust a woman to be alone with another man. It even happens in reverse, like that religious nutcase Mike Pence not being alone with a woman unless his wife is present. (Gods, what must that marriage be like?! lool!) Episode 6: Tony B was doing well until he stumbled over that bag of money. But the temptations led him astray, he likely has impulse control issues like many of the other guys you see on the show, so he spends the money almost compulsively until it has run out. The partying not only causes him to lose sleep and get him tired, it also honks off his girlfriend. And when he gets tired and stressed out, his impulse control glitches out again and...bam, now he's transporting boosted airbags. All chances of a life on the straight and narrow busted, over a random coincidence. Also... Carmela has used people before, she pushed her neighbor's sister into writing that nice letter for Meadow - and none too subtly either. And at the expense of a low-income minority youth too one should add. Carmela, as much as she protests against Tony's lying and infidelity and related subjects, she also enjoys the kind of life she has. The luxury, the fine dining, furs, jewelry, nice cars, big fancy house. A maid, three times a week. There's a streak of selfishness in her, but whether that's truly hers or the product of having spent over 20 years married to a mobster, who can say.
