As others have stated, Stephen did wear a prosthetic belly for his early outings at Bobby but having grown portlier throughout the taping of the show, he no longer needed it for the last seasons. The character he played ostensibly owned a quotations book but was never shown reading it.

Much of Tony’s hate towards Bobby is his jealousy of Junior and Bobby’s relationship. Bobby is like a surrogate son to him and after the shit with Junior happened part of the anger he had towards him was taken out on Bobby. Much of Bobby’s good qualities came from being Juniors aide de camp, another reason he rose so quickly Bobby really only did what he needed to. No more/No Less. That included punching Tony to stand up for Janice, 1 murder and asking directly for more of a role. No drama, no unnecessary shit to get caught by cops, no drugs, and no ego. And no rough patches except for right after his wife died. And once his wife died he had women lining up for him.. Similar to Tony hate towards Furio.. he envied him.
