I was addicted to heroin for 7 years ending in 2006. A few years later i moved away, 100 miles from where i lived to the coast, got a job there, met a girl, started a completely new life. The other day i came back to where i used to live, i drove round the streets i used to score on and where i grew up while listening to this song. Ive long been a fan of this band. It s a monument to who i was and who i am now.

So did I... the first time I heard it. Like all truly great songs... you gotta hear it a couple times. And what sets the sound apart from any other band is this Once it grabs you it never lets go.

Niente, possono passare dieci, venti, trenta, 50 anni ma la bellezza di questo brano rimane inalterata. E mi piace pensare che TANTI amici -magari, come me, del 1971- amino questa stupenda canzone! Ciao!

I am just hearing this song for the first time in 30 years. I recorded lots of music when I was in my 20ties, and this got on a tape with lots of other stuff. I never paid attention to who made the music. Until today I don't recall ever hearing about "The Sound" or a late Mr. Adrian, which I just read about. But a few words "a monument to love" stuck for all these years, and I have heard them in my head countless times. Today I looked it up in google. Whatever made this song leave such a mark?

Is it fear, Is it fear That you feel inside of you? Is it fear? Shouting out just fear You feel inside of you Is it fear that you feel When all eyes are on you? Is it fear? Surely not just fear you feel When all eyes are on you Rise and rise Rise above Rise and rise Not just a girl Not just a girl, not just a building For the skyline Not just a girl, not just a building For our eyes Not just a girl, not just a building But a monument to love Rise and rise Rise above Rise and rise We will never pull you down No we shouldn't put you down You're a monument to love

Yes I get the same expression that this song was a bit ahead of its time. If you listen through the whole song for the first time without knowing. It felt like a 1998-99 song any how it was made in 1982. That's how unique this song is. Rest in peace Adrian and Colvin. Your guys brought that song to life.

We have every reason to be different. Then in the early 80ties, some years after leaving high school I listened to tapes, typically recorded from the radio. Hundreds of songs. Never paid much attention to who made them, just didn't interest me. Before finding this page I ever heard about "Adrian" or "The Sound". But somehow this song repeated itself in my head. More than 30 years later, this song, as the only one, I believe, is the one I look up. The one that still plays in my head. I haven't the least clue why. Maybe it just hit something I felt at the time. Anyway, I just see that to me it is gigantic.
