If you had heard him before, you would remember, trust me!! There are basses who can sing a little lower than Geoff, but his voice has such clarity that he is my favorite! All of the vocals in this were Geoff. Usually he shows multiples of himself, this was the first time (so far) that he's sung harmony and not done that. He only started doing solo work when his acapella group, Voiceplay, stopped touring when the world shut down for Covid. His catalogue isn't large because of that, but every piece is wonderful. think that you will like his cover of Ain't No Sunshine, it is hauntingly beautiful. Subscribed in anticipation of more Geoff and Voiceplay!!

Great reaction! Yes, you nailed his name. Yes, you were visibly impressed (even shaken a little) by his voice. I have been a music lover my whole life... Geoff is one of the most talented AND imaginative artists out there. And I mean ARTIST... not 'just' a good singer, or engineer. or arranger, or composer... ALL of the above and more. Defines what the term 'artist' means. I didn't see this mentioned in the comments, but Geoff usually does ALL the voices on his tracks. Those higher, delicious harmonies?? Yup, they're Geoff also. Anyway, loved your stunned reaction!! Stick with him! AND check out the group he sings with... Voice Play.

Loved your reaction! I hope you'll react to more of Geoff and his a cappella group, VoicePlay! Congratulations on getting Geoff's names right! A lot of people are thrown by his first name, but you got both of them exactly right. Geoff does just about everything in the video - arranges the music, plays it, produces, directs, etc. All of the vocals you heard in the video are done by Geoff - his range is probably 5 octaves, and while he's probably best known for his low notes and sub-harmonic super-low notes, he can get up into tenor range as well.

Someone described it in a way that I totally share: the original was like "should we worry about this?" Pentatonix was like "We can still fix this if we work together" Disturbed was like "You were warned, didn't listen, and now YOU MUST PAY!" Geoff is like "I'm so, so sorry..." Welcome to Geoff's world. And BTW you pronounced his name perfectly. 🙂 I'd suggest you to check the a cappella group he sings bass for as well, they're called "Voiceplay" and are known as "the theatre kids of a cappella". Incredibly talented guys. They recently did a version of Metallica's "Nothing else matters" that could be a nice introduction to them, although it's not as theatrical as many of theirs videos are. 🙂 Just subscribed for more of yours reactions to 'em. 🙂 See you next time!

Thanks for your reaction to this. This was an incredible rendition of such an incredible song in itself. Yes, there have been others that did their own cover to this and all have been incredible in their own creative way. Yes, I have seen the live Disturbed cover of this song when they did it on the Conan O'Brien show. It was absolutely amazing and even more amazing when it was mentioned that Disturbeds' lead singer David Draiman was under the weather when he performed on the show with an over 100 degree fever. I mean being sick like that and still going out on stage killing it like he did was mind blowing. I don't know if you know this, but Geoff Castellucci is part of an acapella group called Voiceplay. Would love to see you react to some of there covers like "Golden Hour" Orginally performed by JVKE. Also, they did a mashup video called "Boy Bands in 5 mins"...This one was fantastic and one other to react to would be their Metallica cover of "Nothing Else Matters". Wow, never would I have thought this song could be covered by an acapella group, but they did it and with one surprising element that they "threw" in the video that you wouldn't see when you think of an acapella group. But, I didn't mind it at all because it just made the whole cover that much better. Thank you again for your reaction and btw....NEW SUBCRIBER HERE!!!!!!!! See you on the next one........ Peace✌

Geoff is a treasure. For emotional depth try his "Blackbird' or "High and Dry". "Ain't No Sunshine" left his fans in tears and commenting "dude, Kathy (his wife) only went to the store for 10..." For his humorous side try "Way Down", and for sheer bass splendor - well, anything he does!

I'm not usually a big fan of acapella, which Geoff does a lot of with the band he's in, VoicePlay, but he has some REALLY cool stuff. If you're a fan of Nightmare Before Christmas, you should listen to VoicePlay's cover of Oogie Boogie's song. Very cool, and Geoff hits some stupid low notes. Also recommended would be his cover of Misty Mountains Cold from The Hobbit. Another great bass voice is Tim Foust from Home Free. Peter Hollens and Tim did a cover of Misty Mountains Cold, and it's great as well! BTW, loving all your Nightwish reactions! I've been listening to them since about 2003, and they're probably my favorite band! If you haven't heard it already, you definitely need to check out their live version of Phantom Of The Opera from their 2005 concert with their first singer Tarja Turunen. That's what it should have sounded like in the first place in the movies and plays! One more song I would recommend is Peter Hollen's cover of Lullaby Of Woe from the Witcher 3 game with Malukah. Also very cool! For acapella, it's a crazy song!

Yay! Geof was a tenor, but Voiceplay needed a baritone, so he became a basso profundo... particularly during the pandemic, Geoff became a fantastic arranger of vocals... If Geoff alone has released anything ordinary, I don't know about it; but I heartily recommend Voiceplay's "Oogie Boogie Song", "Little Mermaid" medley, Queen medley, "The Dragonborn Comes", "My Mother Told Me", etc, etc, etc... once a capella's got you, Tim Foust and Home Free need as much of a look, and of course the extreme harmony specialists, Pentatonix... love your genuineness (is that a word??) :)

Welcome to the rabbit hole. I think we all had the deer in the headlights look when we first hear Geoff (Jeff, you got it right) sing. He also arranges his own music and about half of Voiceplay's. The backup vocals are also Geoff, usually he has his clones on camera with him, but they were hiding this time. The best way I've heard this song described is the Original was the warning, Disturbed's is the anger for not heading the warning, Pentatonix's is the contemplation, and Geoff's is the sorry after the anger fades with the idea that there still might be hope Loved you reaction and you should really checkout Voiceplay where Geoff is the Bass singer.
