The strange part is. SM2 is inclusive. Two of the most important characters in the game are very clearly of African and Japanese ancestry. When counted up. They have more dialogue than that of the main character. they have the more fleshed out and robust character story arch's and character development in the game than the main character does. But since neither of them spend any amount of time pointing out that they are minorities, or how being a minority has impacted their story, or how a history of cultural oppression has shaped them as people. It's not even acknowledged or noticed by anyone on that side of the discourse. So, tell me again how is about "inclusion and equity" and not about pushing a horrid ideological narrative that leaves you with all the profits and unchecked authority over others? Titus is the ultimate in stoicism. As the player we journeyed with him in Space Marine 1 through hell as the ultimate selfless hero only to be wrongfully cast as a heretic and sent on a 200 year penance for saving the day... He is accepted back into the Ultramarines and told NOT to talk about it. So he doesn't... he obeys orders and is a dutiful Space Marine. This is so absolutely faithful to the source material, it's perfect.

Im a huge WH40K fan and also a black guy and a leftist-leaning kind of guy. My brother-in-law is a white leftist that has a surface-level knowledge of WH40K. We got into a conversation about this game and the drama. He was arguing with me about how I could endorse this IP when it's nothing more than "white guys being the masters of everything". I had to explain to him that the black space marines were arguably the "goodest" chapter in the universe. Had to explain to him that theres gay space marines, disabled space marines, all female chapters in the Adeptus Sororitas and Sisters of Silence. I explained that the disabled Space Marines were some of the most cherished in the universe. All he could say was, "Oh. I had no idea."😂

Last comment on this video, I promise. I am a white man born way back in 1978. I am a darn good Welder (Mig/Stick/Tig/Arc Flux), I do all of my own electrical, heating and A/C, and plumbing. I spent years as an Electrician and not a single one of the townhouses I’ve wired have ever burnt down. I can change my own oil, change my own brakes, even rebuild an engine. I know how to hunt and fish, and I know how to prepare those critters so they can go on the dinner table. I know how to use and clean virtually every firearm available to citizens here in Maryland, including black powder rifles (which are a lot of fun to hunt with imho) and I know how to create shelter and start a campfire. I know more than basic first-aid, including how to treat firearm or knife injuries, including sucking chest wounds. I don’t know as much as a EMT/Paramedic, nurse, PA-C, or doctor of course, but enough that I can save a life, possibly even my own, if I need to. I can grow crops pretty well. I am definitely the type of man that knows a little about a lot of things and quite a lot on more than just a few topics. If WWIII starts tomorrow and we can no longer go to grocery stores or Burger King I can survive and keep my loved ones fed. Should most of the nation turn into a radioactive wasteland but I wasn’t hit either directly or by the radiation I can survive and ensure that my loved ones do too. My point is not to brag (you may think that but I’m really not; yes I do know a lot but no where near as much as I wish I did) but to say that I am a traditional man who has successfully raised a girl from birth to adulthood; my daughter is 24 and doing well for herself. I couldn’t be prouder of her, truthfully. There is NOTHING wrong with, or toxic about, traditional masculinity. If it were not for traditional men the world would come to an immediate halt. Seriously, think about it - no matter how rich and successful Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are they still need to call an electrician or plumber when they have issues with their homes. Jeff Bezos, I am willing to say, does not know how to drop the transmission in his car to repair it or install a new one. Obviously he could just go buy a few hundred new cars to replace it, hahaha, but if it were a car that he was very partial to he would have to call an auto mechanic to repair the vehicle. When Oprah’s toilet backs up she has to call a plumber. When outlets in the homes of President Trump or President Obama stop working they have to call an electrician to come check the wire, swap the receptacle if it’s bad or swap out a bad circuit breaker, because they don’t know how to do these things themselves. When Leonardo DiCaprio’s private aircraft experiences a dangerous computer error or the landing gear needs to be replaced he has to call and pay someone who is an experienced aircraft mechanic because he has no idea how to fix anything in his aircraft. Being a traditional man is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. We are valuable and valued. Even if it’s something as trivial as opening a stuck lid on a jar of sauce for your girlfriend/wife or mom/grandmom that they can’t get themselves you are valued for doing it for them. The joke that we see all of these males walking around with impressive facial hair yet they don’t know how to change the oil in their cars or even properly inflate their tires isn’t merely a joke - there’s a ton of them out there, and I find it to be kinda sad. Men should be knowledgeable on as many topics as possible, and we should know how to change a tire and how to hunt a deer for dinner. We should be physically strong for as long as our bodies will allow us to be, and we should be emotionally and intellectually strong from the start of manhood until the day that the Good Lord presses the ‘delete’ button on our lives. We should be strong for those who need us to be, and we should keep a level head when others are panicking. When the girlfriend/wife needs us to hold them while they cry we should do so without complaint as that is the sort of thing that will allow your woman to run to your side and be your strength when you need her to be, like when you lose a parent or (God forbid!) your child. We should be willing and able to raise our sons to be men but also be there when they are at their weakest; a man who never shows love or gentleness to their son is not a good father. When our daughters have broken up with the “love of their lives” for the first to the twentieth time we should be there to hug her, let her cry on your shoulder, and remind her that he is a total fool who will one day very much regret letting her go. Being a man is every bit as difficult as being a woman, and some times even more difficult as we will some times have to deal with a burden that a woman never will, much like how they have to deal with the pain that comes from birthing your children. But I’ve been rambling, I know. There’s nothing wrong with being a man, nothing wrong with being a manly man, and traditional masculinity and manhood are *not* toxic - it is those who have been indoctrinated and brainwashed into cultural Marxism who are the ‘toxic’ ones. It is they who are the problem, not you. Be a man, and be proud to be ‘manly’.

Ahh Warhammer 40K... Back in the day we would point and laugh at them and say "Hah, Nerrrrds!" as they were buying their miniatures, before we turned back to the displays with goodies and tried to decide how much of our budget we'd spend on AD&D 2nd edition rule books and how much we'd have to reserve for the upcoming release of new Magic the Gathering booster packs. I don't play Space Marine 2 as it isn't my type of game (too stressful after a day's work) but I'm right there beside them in the trenches to fight our new common enemy! A Game this well received by its target audience deserves every accolade.

I tried Advanced a couple of times, and while it had a lot to recommend - the oblique PvP was an interesting dynamic - it never really gripped me like SC. Same goes for Space Hulk. I know SH is the classic which everyone's supposed to know, love and revere but Termies vs. Genestealers in cramped corridors has never engaged me as much as an (un-canonical) horde of Xenos and Chaos, vs. teams of SMs. I always wanted to play the game with Space Wolves, though! 😀

As a Transgender person, I will very much like it when the insufferable powers that be that are given the keys to the kingdom in the entertainment business would take a long walk off a short pier and I will explain why. I unfortunately have struggled with gender disphoria for most of my life and ultimately had to deal with it by transitioning after every attempt of treating it with therapy for years failed and I ended up in pysche ward on sucide watch. But at no point do I throw any agenda in anyone's face. That was a painful decision I had to make to take back control of my life when nothing else worked. Yet every time I see Disney or some big souless corporate game studio make a really trashy product their MO seems to be to deflect that criticism with "You're just racist/homophobic/transphobic" etc instead of taking any responsibility for the product. And every time I think, "Just great. You've shifted the hate off of your shitty product by making the consumer understandably upset with the sub par product hate me instead. Because of this extremely pretentious subgroup of the community is held up as the arbiters and spokesmen of everybody LGBT. And on a fairly regular basis I put up with shit for actions that are not my own. "Please stop trying to corrupt the nation's youth" I'm not. "Please stop ruining the entertainment I enjoy" I haven't had anything to do with that. "Please stop silencing us when we disagree" I am not for banning people for their opinions. But these actions are always laid squarely at my feet and I am constantly made to feel that I and my fellow gay or trans friends are the ones personally responsible for what is the current hellscape that is modern gaming and my struggles are worse for it. I will continue to put up with it. Because I would rather live my life on my terms to gain the acceptance I lacked for so long and deal with the occasional fallout than try to live a lie until the thoughts of suicide return. But it would be so much better if these miserable, cynical subgroup of the LGBT alliance that presume to speak for all of us and the companies that use us as scapegoats for their souless products failing would not actively make everything I have to deal with so much worse. If you get into the lore it's brilliant since you can see it was just to give some purpose to the war game and it developed into like 30 books and some amazing writing. It's like "ohh yea an emperor who makes all these big starship troppers fight bugs? Why "Ohh well the bugs threaten humanity" So the emperor is like there father? "Ahh yea i guess so since he made them" So are they all brothers? "Ahh yea i mean i guess?" "Do they ever fight?" @@vhaelen326 Weird, I typed a much more detailed reply, but it seems to have vaporized. :D Anyway, the game actually looks like a great game. I just prefer different styles if I'm playing shooters. I either like id Software games (Dooms, Quakes, even Rage, etc.) or I'm into things like System Shock (to a lesser degree BioShock) etc. The Warhammer game looks nice an polished, but stylistically it's less my sort of thing. Plus I'm right in the middle of another From Software addiction right now, and I only have so much time to play games. :D I know a lot of people into the Warhammer universe, but it never really appealed to me that much despite SOME similarities to others that I do like. It's cool, but not exactly my sort of thing. So it's not that I don't want it period, it's just that given the other games that I have available to play, I probably wouldn't put a much time into it. I also play a lot more indie and retro stuff these days, so it's much rarer for me to get into a big style shooter unless it's exactly the sort of big style shooter I'm into. I do want to put some time into Witchfire though soon. That's one that looks more like my type in a stylistic sense.

One thing I love about spacemarine is that instead of just telling you it shows you. Chairon charges at the heretics out of nowhere, flying into a rage. Later you learn he is a child of calth, a planet which was sieged by the word bearers. It is a very good example of how to write a backstory that calls you to learn more of the lore.

The campaign and Ops missions combine for about 12ish hrs of first run playtime, but the Ops missions are highly replayable and tied to a character progression system that's a lot of fun to unlock. Then there's a fairly basic but pretty fun PVP mode. Plus, there's still a healthy chunk of free content coming. I've put in over 150hrs already. I think it's well worth the price of admission.

Just played the campaign with two friends, and now we going back to play the campaign so we have each finished it as the main character and I love it. So I will in the end play the main campaign three times. I will say for my 1st play through it has a strong story line as the main character is who you play in Space Marine 1. The data slates you pick up only add and enrich the lore.

hah I am one of them they/thems and honestly I dont care. I have been warhammer fan since 2010 from the DoW game series. I do find it frustrating that they begin to make claims before they properly know the setting, because there is so many arguments that we can just point a specific quote from a book to debunk it. cos they dont actually care to know, they just want to make the claim as if it was some gatcha moment. GW has already as a company wanting to distance them selves from possible discriminatory views as is, and has zero tolerance policy against people who would spread them. but as if these people knew of their company policies either for that matter.

I'll say this, the characters actually have alot of introspection and verbal expression but it is with purpose such as keeping eachother in check. Whether it is the forces of chaos or straying too far from the corporeal protection the codex astartes provides.

They did break lore for diversity points, though. I'm getting tired of saying this, but by the Emperor I'll never rest! It wasn't egregious. Most people didn't notice and no one really cares, even the most zealous geeks among us... but: Space Marines' skin colour is canonically determined by the environment, not their heritage (with the exception of a few legions and chapters who are stuck all one colour). This makes them able to survive comfortably in situations that'd be deadly to us mere mortals. Also, within a chapter, marines look alike because their features are influenced by their primarchs. Some chapters more than others, one notably are all completely identical and can even each take on the identity of their primarch. There will never be a situation where in the same place at the same time three marines of the same chapter are recognisably racially diverse. Space marines are BEYOND race, ABOVE race, NON-racial. Having a recognisable black, a recognisably East Asian and a recognisably white ultramarine in a squad who remain separate races throughout is kinda racist if you think about it... like race is somehow separate, important, or something that overwrites biology amd history 40,000yrs in the future.

Well....the Ultramarines did take Astartes from other chapters...or did they....There are also you know...500 worlds in Ultramar! My guess is the tithes of men who are used for Genestock were from different racial backgrounds.

Agreed, but considering the ultramarine empire spans hundreds of worlds, I gave it a pass. His infectious rage (Chairon) resonated with me. Now, if they went and added an Asian chap to the Salamanders.... I'd lose my ish.

maybe, though there is definitely canon races for space marines and id imagine if you recruit from many worlds then you will eventually have plenty of races in your marines that retain their racial characteristics no matter what. one of the more obscure legions are the likes of Void Lions, who are based on the irl Zulu people. (originating to planet called Zulup, cos GW is so original with their naming system) in canon they are all black, and not like Salamanders. they are also Fist successor chapter.

It may have ‘broke lore’ but equally it could have been done for narrative/storytelling reasons. Having three distinct characters allows the audience to quickly and easily differentiate between them both during cut scenes and minute to minute gameplay. Creative licence sometimes has to be taken in order to tell a story or convey information quickly to the audience. Having three white/black/insert flavour space marines may have been lore correct but from a storytelling position it actually makes things harder and would then potentially mean extra effort has to go into making sure the audience can tell them apart. Far simpler to have three visually distinct characters which then solves the aforementioned issue. I can’t stand the relentless push for a non existent ‘modern audience’ that we are increasingly seeing more of each day but I think it’s important not to misinterpret intent by the developers. Equally I could be completely wrong but I’d far prefer to explain away issues around narrative than label an innocent developer/person as part of the madness around DEI.

I recently got the game like, 2 days ago and I can't stop playing it on may SD OLED. It's not supported yet but I'm really surprised it plays well and the fps doesn't dip even with hoards of tyranids on scree. I really loved the pledge scene, I watch it on repeat on yt.

I broke my leg recently and after getting screws drilled into my bone, I had to spend a few days laying low. Instead of taking OxyCodone, I downloaded Space Marine 1 and took out my pain on Greenskins and Bloodthirsters. I’m tempted to break my other leg, just to have an excuse to go and spend time on SM2 as well.

I think we can all agree that what makes a good game (regardless of the genre) are Gameplay, Rules, Appeal, Accessibility and Entertainment Value. From what I understand from your video, it appears that the narrative of "subtextual themes" within some games storylines has superseded the above five aspects which fundamentally makes a good game. Warhammer Space Marines 2 looks like a shoot'em up video game, inspired by the rich tapestry of the Warhammer 40,000 universe. It looks enjoyable to play (Gameplay & Appeal, ✅️). It doesn't look complicated to learn and it would keep me engaged for a hour or so.(Rules & Entertainment Value, ✅️). And I suspect that I can get the game on either Xbox or PlayStation, instead of buying a complete army to build, paint and learn the intricacies of the traditional turn-by-turn hobby game, which can last for up too (but not limited too) 5hrs, depending on the amount of players. Which 'may' sway newcomers from the franchise. (Accessibility, ✅️).

You know, when i saw a woman on the thumbnail and the word "pathetic", i immediately clicked. Why? Because i was expecting 20 minutes of either good laughing or making me furious listening to a woke activists gas lighting. color me positively surprised when the 20 minutes turned out to be a very objective talk about the whole thing i constantly nodded along in agreement. But it shows how bad it became when just one word and a thumbnail picture is all that was needed for me to jump to such wrong conclusions.

I’ve yet pulled the trigger purchasing due to its price point. My sons are playing it love it BUT made mention that it lack a story. What I’m feeling from your video and my son’s feelings this game lost its place in the chronological setting. The why the where the when you get it!
