A stirring commentary on a modest naval victory for England. Remind me what happened to the British navy one year later?

Is super fun how British/American people always tell this story, but fail to mention that this was just a battle in a war that lasted for another 16 years and they ended up losing, badly... (a war in which actually they also lose they armada the next year yo that happening in an even more humiliation way than the Spanish...)

Nope what your saying is incorrect:……..:Spain’s disastrous defeat bankrupt their own infrastructure………Spain’s humiliated defeat was the beginning of the end of their decline………the homospanishgypsycowardking felipa ll try NOT once???NOT twice,not even three times but fourth times an attempt to invade England and yet failed………and the cowardgypsykingofspain felipa ll who was actually a known homosexual like all Spanish kings were was forced to signed a peace treaty that gave the rights for England to navigate freely into the new world and had to compensate the English for the cost of war……..that’s how Spain became bankrupt and he had no choice but to make peace with England due to being tired of the countless and many Spanish galleon confiscation that had precious gold cargo taken away by force or being confiscated by the man called el dragon 🐉 who was known as the terror of the Spaniards whom the Spaniards fear……..his name was Sir Francis Drake and he had to make peace in order for Drake to stop and he did……….that explains why them precious Aztec,Mayan and Inca gold never made it to Madrid but instead u can see it now at your local London museum courtesy of the king of terror of the high seas or should I say the terror of the Spaniards Sir Francis Drake………that explains why your queen and goddess Elizabeth l became more richer than the Gypsykingofspain felipa ll………….and that also explains how Sir Francis Drake became a millionaire

What happened to this empire again? Oh yes, went into massive decline. your being being childish, by coming out with all this BS, as if it matters, or is significant, In anything. The editor of this video, is American, not English and is giving accurate portrayal, of what happened in "this" battle. The series of battles between the English and Spanish Armada's, were never officially called a war, and and there were roughly equal victories, for each side. This was accepted, by both sides, hence, both sides agreed to end any further conflicts, with no imbalance of benefits being taken by either side.if the Spanish had won, as you are indicating, then the English would have needed to pay reparations and would have lost privileges, like in every losing case, which requires them accepting an imbalance of Stipulations made by the winning side, in the Treaty of London If you want to make generalisations, then the bottomline is that the Spanish organisation was a complete mess, and there was completely inefficient structure to their empire. They didn't even know what their personnel was doing half the time. Hence their decline into obscurity
@aritzmartinezrodriguez1825
@aritzmartinezrodriguez1825 Жыл бұрын
@@Rowlph8888 you clearly have no idea about history. That those battles were never called a war? It was and it is, it is called the Anglo-spanish war, from 1585 to 1604. By the end of the war Spain was winning and had won most of the battles, nowhere roughly near.. It ended with a peace treaty favorable to Spain. Hence Spain won. When this war ended the British were still no one for another century. The classic absurdity "the spanish were incompetent". The Spanish empire lasted more than double the British one, and it happened during the Middle Ages, literally, not during pretty much the industrial revolution. During that time they build universities, hospitals, schools, roads and many many infraestructures. And you can argue it as much as you want but it is a fact, there are about 20 cities build by the Spanish declared world heritage against one in "North America" and it is in San Juan Puerto Rico... so yeah, not exactly build by the British. And all of that 2 centuries before the brits, the complexity of the logistics can not even compare. Still they lasted more than double. So if the Spanish empire was such a mess and they were so incompetent...what does that make of and empire that lasted way less during an age in which it was much easier and faster to travel and keep the empire together, and did way less in the places they went?

@@aritzmartinezrodriguez1825 I was trying to be civil, but as you are the usual impulsive, uninformed, belligerent Internet troll. I will respond as one last time and then ignore you.Apparently you know nothing, and our history. you nicely cherry picked battles after the one, in the video, but omitted the other 3 Armada sent to England, which also failed.The treaty of London, hardly benefited anyone and was an acknowledgement that, both parties saw how useless the whole thing had been and Spain was desperate just to stop British support for the Dutch, In multiple ways. The most important The Thing that the English elite wanted was recognition and lack of threat to the Protestant re-formation, which they achieved. You can interpret your biased way If you want, But Objectively, and internationally that is not the way it is viewed. I notice you didn't mention "the Treaty of Madrid," ratified 1670, which "overwhelmingly" favoured Britain.Now there is a treaty where Spain got virtually nothing it wanted Your narrative is full of bogus lies. Spain wasn't even formally unified until 1492, Centuries after England and France. You got invaded, Occupied and dominated by the Moors, an entirely different culture, For "many" centuries until this point. The Spanish empire was a mess, in South America, hence its eventual decline.The Brits were trading in India in 1600 onwards and started colonising USA, in the late 16th century, Establishing a firm settlement in Jamestown in 1608. This Spanish started with a larger empire less than 100 years before that and were constantly under threat from other powers during their dominant, unlike the Brits; You obviously cannot do maths. If you think this is double 😆 Britain's empire just gradually got stronger, became the largest empire ever.

Fake English propaganda. They didn't even ended up winning the war in which this battle happened, and the next year to this happening Drake lost the English armada against Spain and Portugal (mainly Spain) in a way even more humiliating than this one. But man do they love the only battle against the odds that they ever won....

@@johnneygold4088 The British version is clearly manipulated, because English always hide or manipulate their battles due to the many defeats they had against Spain. The ships sunken by the armada were more. England didn’t have the technology, or the necessary fire power to confront Spanish war ships at that time. They could only sunk 4 ships and Spanish did it with 8, the double. The rest of ships (2) sunken at the canal were merchants with provisions, canon balls or gun powder. Ships that didn’t fit for the requirements in those winds that made them crashed against the rocks. And the majority of sunken ships were, by the later storm at the Ireland shores. And you don’t know all this, which it is very well documented at Spanish archives, because English pretended to make a huge epic victory that never occurred, as they always did with their historical propaganda. And moreover, spanish built an even better armada one year later, and increase their dominance further more. And also, this was part of a war that Finally Spain won. And something you don’t know is that In the Spanish Armada events, 8.000 to 10.000 English soldiers died because of one plague while waiting for the storms to pass. And the sickness spread when they arrived, causing the collapse of the English economy. The Spanish Armada adventure ended in fatal events for English. THE ENGLISH ARMADA OF DRAKE: And because English manipulation, you forgot about the English armada of Drake, one year after the Spanish Armada, in 1589, in which he lost more than 50 ships, and about more than 8000 British died in La Coruña, Vigo, Madeira and Lisbon for the land combats, and several sea combats against the disperse English armada, and the rest, probably more than 10.000 wounded in combat and of another epidemic onboard well known. After they arrived back to England only 3.300 of the 27.776 men of the English armada claim the salary. That is a real data that shows how many English could die.The English armada was even bigger in ships (180) than the Spanish Armada, and this wasn’t the only English armada. OTHER ENGLISH ARMADAS There were 6 more Armadas defeated by Spanish, like de combined attack of British and Dutch to Cadiz, in 1625, or the armada of Nelson at Tenerife. But The biggest of all of them was the Vernon’s Armada against Cartagena de Indias, in 1741, of 195 ships and 30.000 men against 3000 Spanish and Indian archers defending the city. Finally, almost half of the ships sent by the British to fight were sunken by the Spanish coast batteries and by the lack of sailors to govern them after the battle. In this Spanish victory 18.000 British died, and previous to the defeat, Vernon’s confidence in the Victory made him sent a ship to England with a message of victory. The message arrived before knowing the terrible disaster; and commemorative medals were issued showing a false victory, and started big celebrations in all parts of England. After knowing the news of the defeat, king George II prohibited historians write or speak about it under penalty of death. And at Vernon’s death he was buried at Westminster Abbey like a hero to again hide the defeat, and also they gave the name of Portobello to a London street for the only small victory over a small fortress to show at least a victory. And of course this is not taught at your schools
