Dude, first minute of the video, it is like you are talking directly from my soul. You described closest the way how I feel about MTB and what bike I want :)

I think this is the best bike I've ever owned. Like you, I've set all my PBs on this bike. Up and down. Haven't been dropped by roadies on the commute yet either.

The epic evo is just the rebirth of of the specialized camber
@theproscloset2 жыл бұрын
Yeah! Different overall bikes but it is filling that same niche that the Camber used to.

@@theproscloset I had a camber . It was terrifying to descend on. My epic evo is way better

Ive had my epic for nearly 4 years and its been amazing. I found a shop that's able to do brain maintenance in about 4 weeks and i always bring it in for yearly rebuild in march letting me thrash on it from April, all summer, till Michigan's winter in December.

I'm just building up a Transition Spur with the same philosophy - 120 Pike Ultimate, 4-pot XT brakes, Roval wheels, Ingrid cranks. Light, fast, sendy - hoping for all 3!

My 2021 Epic EVO Expert, named Brainless, is just under 22 lbs, I upgraded too, I went with SID Ultimate fork, I cut longer to keep the levers from hitting the top tube, 1250 gram Roval SL wheels, complete XO 1 drive train, S-Works Fast Trax tires, 50mm Syncros Hixton SL intigrated stem/bars, Fizik 3D printed saddle, eliminated dropper post, I've had 3 other brainy Epic's, this one is a rocket ship, climbs like a billy goat, most forgiving bike I've ever had.. not a total weight weeny, I could lighten it up a bit more,, ;)

Picked up a 2022 Epic Evo Comp with a few select upgrades. My first full squish ride. I love it! It's down to 22.5 lbs with pedals.

Awesome had a specialized Epic back in the day but was a little too aggressive and I didn’t like paying and waiting for the brain to be fixed this is awesome and wasn’t even on my radar

I owned a 2020 epic evo, had the Brain rear shock. The bike was great except I spent a lot of money to keep the brain working properly. I had a spare brain shock assy to keep the bike on the trail but all too expensive. I bought s 22 epic evo now. My opinion I could ride the 2020 faster and more aggressively practicing or xc racing. The 2022 geometry is growing on me though after 1 month or so owning it. I think it’s just that little more slacker that is the difference so it’s a adjustment phase….awesome bikes though love Specialized Epic Evo bikes

I have this bike and swapped the stem to shorter stem and trail bars instead. changed the front suspension to a fox factory with 140mm and a couple tokens in the rear... oh and new tires obviously .... as a light rider (150lbs) this thing shreds trails and even the bike park

Do you notice the pike sits lower in its travel at all? Considering upgrading to save my arms on the chattery trails I ride but don’t want to change the geo in any way?

I have both and honestly I’m thinking of ditching the epic cause the Evo does it all. Even the climbing is awesome with no sag. I can’t explain how but when I put the power down during a climb it just goes. And with no lockout. Awesome bike

I have the same Epic Evo Comp, thinking about upgrading to Pike because of the SID bushing play. Hows the climbing with this fork? I think it does not have a lockout right?

Hi, nice Video and cool build, actually I have the same plans. I have a pike ultimate with 140mm of travel in my garage, do you think it will also fit?
@RobertoLeonardo Жыл бұрын
Hi! Nice setup! I'm also considering changing the SID for something else, as I find the SID too harsh. The Pike might just be a good alternative. However, you bought the 120mm. How much SAG% are you riding it? I'm in doubt to order a 130mm instead of a 120mm as I suppose I'll run it with more SAG (both relative in % and absolute in mm).

Can the seat post be slammed all the way down into the frame to accommodate longer travel dropper posts? I'm guessing not due to the two bottle mounts.
@theproscloset Жыл бұрын
It depends on the dropper and the frame size. There's a curve in the frame before the bottle mount, so that is going to be your biggest factor in compatibility.

hi what is the difference between Specialized Evo, Specialized Evo Comp, Specilized Epic Comp, Specialized Epic Expert, Specialized Epic Evo Expert? which one you sit more upright and which bike is better if you use it mostly for going upwards / climbing?
@aldenroswell8504 Жыл бұрын
to answers your questions the only difference between models is parts and epic evo vs epic. both have practically the same geometry on how you fit on the bike. however the evo has more suspension travel and aggressive geometry. the difference between comps, experts, etc is just parts.

Hi, I am building this bike now but I am between Medium and Large size, at 5'10. Always rode Medium bikes but that was old geometry, I tested this Epic Evo and I am not sure about it anymore. I dont know if this is cause of new trail geometry or Medium is a little bit too small for me. Could you tell me what size bike you tested and how tall are you? Thank you
@theproscloset2 жыл бұрын
Specialized has a tendency to run a little small and at 5'10", you're right on the border between sizes. If the MD feels a bit small, a LG should fit you well.

If i wouldnt be a student i had 2 bikes for sure But how much does the weight even matter? I mean if i lose 2 or 3 kilos of bodyweight then i could save the money of a new bike right?
