I still come back to watch this clip every so often....I was in the student section and this video DOES NOT DO IT JUSTICE. It was so loud that I almost blacked out, and Williams said he was "dizzy" because of the crowd noise. Nevada was #9 in the country, came into The Spectrum which, at the time, Utah State had a top 4 best home record in the last decade in college basketball, and the crowd was juiced before tip off. This sequence of events was off the charts...William's lay up the crowd going, then the first 3 pointer jumped the noise to another level, Jardine's block sent it to a level I've never heard and didn't think could get louder until....that 2nd 3 Williams hit and it somehow got louder! By far the best and coolest moment I've ever had as a fan in the crowd and that's saying something. I've seen the Cubs in Wrigley and Coors Field. I've watched the Bears in Soldier Field and Mile High Stadium. I've been to a Packers game in Lambeu. I've been to other college games and pro basketball games....nothing I've been to compares to the energy and noise level of this game. Simply awesome

There have been so many games I've gone to where I was sure I was going to lose all my hearing. It's too bad they haven't fixed the decibel meter. I remember several times when I was a student where it hit 140. The Smith Spectrum is THE best place in the country to watch a college bball game.

@lobodude03 Let's hope we can get MKA up to that level. Pit Crew and audience during USC game was pretty...um....well, they sucked.

This is a really good crowd. It doesn't compare to Kansas though. ESPN named Allen Fieldhouse the loudest arena in the nation. No one has anything on the Phog. Take this for example: Search "Allen Fieldhouse loud" it's the first video

Have you been to a game there? I have been to Duke, USU, Kansas, and Indiana, and USU is the loudest arena by far. People have to bring ear plugs.. Especially when Tarkanian and UNLV used to come into town during the Big West days. What's important about USU is that unlike Kansas, the Aggies are not a big name basketball program. The students show and do this even the team wins 8 games.

You must have seen to much of the Tim Duryea era. The Morrill era was huge, but now, the Craig Smith era is what has brought back the spectrum magic. Even the game against at the spectrum against Fresno State, which I was at, I had to put on my earphones when the student section was halfway filled. By then I was sure my eardrums were going to rupture. Kansas ain't got nothing on Utah State! We were named the loudest in football last season too.

"the Spectrum" in Philadelphia was a louder building but that was a pro Arena but this is not to bad for college
