It's great to see your understanding of movies itself. Because everyone these days like fast paced movies but in 60s 50s movies like Spartacus and Lawrence of Arabia, Denis Villeneuve is like those directors. i loved the pacing of Blade Runner 2049 people complain the pacing of that movie.

“Bring me that floating fat man” the Lynch version was bonkers from the heartplugs to the cat milking. They must have done all the drugs in Mexico to make that movie.

Great review. The use of religion to manipulate people is the reason why I say all people of color should see this movie or read the book. What I love about this director is how he is able to focus on the true meaning behind the story. Religion is politics , politics is religion.

My real issue with the movie was the casting. When Nigel Terry played King Arthur in _Excalibur (1981)_ he was believable as the "boy king." But that is because they quickly aged him up to adulthood so that he had the authoritarian presence to lead men into battle. Timothee Chalamet may be a fine actor. And as an agnsty teen in Part 1 he does a good job. But he never makes the transition into manhood. I was surprised to see that Chalamet was nearly 30 years old. He looks very much like a boy. He has very effeminate qualities which do not lend themselves to the roll of a leader. The way the dialogue was written and directed may be at fault but for whatever reason he lacks AUTHORITY. When he is yelling at the people near the end of the film he doesn't seem powerful but rather he seems petulant. And every time the very ADULT Javier Bardem's Silgar differs to him it seems rather silly and unbelievable. Likewise, Zendaya is a lovely young woman....until you make her look like a 12 yr old boy. Zendaya is practically androgynous in this film. Sean Young could pull off looking like an attractive adult woman when wearing a Stillsuit but Zendaya did not. Also, for whatever reason, she has a very immature quality to her manner of speech. So, whenever she argues with Paul, I do not see a strong woman asserting herself with a equally strong man. Rather, I see two petulant children having a squabble. And their intimate scenes did not land for me. With the effeminate qualities of Chalamet's Paul and the androgynous nature of Zendaya's Chani, I felt like I was watching two gay BOYS. And I could not help but think that was what the producers were going for given the reported predilection for "young boy action" amongst Hollywood execs.
