*Used this today for first time **enjoyable.fishing** recommend caught four bass with it, it seems to be a solid reel so far. Very smooth and cast like a dream. I think its a good value.*

I've always fished with these reels. Caught tone of catfish and blue gill over the past 4 decades with one. Readily available, easy to use, easy to maintain, not too expensive, and they work. Great video!

I'm brand new to fishing so I came to KZbin for information on how to get started. I stumbled across another of your videos and have now watched several. Thank you for taking the time to explain things in a way that beginners can understand.

Still have several of the older Zebcos with the made in USA stamped on the foot that my dad used some. It's all relative money wise, the price is much cheaper for the cheaper made ones now, but the Bullet I got for him is an amazing reel. Very solid and fast enough retrieve to fish for bass with any lure you choose.

We always referred to this as a closed-face spin casting reel while the open-the-baiil-type version we called an open-face spin casting reel. Is that distinction still in vogue?

I always felt like I could cast a football field with my spincasting rig, when I was a teen. I certainly could cast a ton farther than with my spinning setup.

I once saw something about spincast having short lifespan, but I guess the metal ones are more durable? Also, it's sad that in my country, spincasts cost more than budget spin reels because I believe that there are no local manufacturers, but I got very curious. Maybe one day if I travel I'll be able to find one at reasonable price. Your video was very educational, straight to the point and with great quality! Thank you!!

Used one of these years ago. I remember trying to use it without the cap. Found out very quickly why you don't do that. LOL!!!

If mastered you can get some distance with accuracy. Caught 7-9lb bass. 6lb Northern Pikes. That is at least for me. Using a Spinner now these days. I have yet to beat my personal best with the spin caster

need help,my slip bobber stop keeps hanging up inside of my micro trigger fishing reel Frank Smith
@fishingtalesandotherlies6 жыл бұрын
Spin casting reels are not the best for slip bobber set ups due to the reel cap. Have you tried a spinning reel for this type of fishing. I thing you will find it much easier.

do you like the bass pro shop micro light i only ever used zebcos every time i use another brand of spincast reel i never liked the feel of them is why i always kep going back to zebco i haven't tried any bass pro shop spincast reels we don't have one here so i was wondering i may order one
@fishingtalesandotherlies4 жыл бұрын
Yes I did like the micro light. It's actually a good reel. But does not hold a lot of line.

Do U know if U can use the Zebco omega in saltwater fishing ? & if so how 2 maintan it ? TY
@fishingtalesandotherlies3 жыл бұрын
You can basically use any reel. As long as the line is rated for salt water. Mono doesn't like salt water, it will dry out the line and make it brittle. As for the reel, make sure you wipe it clean. Saltwater will corrode the works if it is not brass.

I always used Zebco reels since the 70's,...I still have them and they still work. Everything else just did not last I once tried the one you cast with your index finger,......it was zebco and I loved it but it quickly broke,.....it was plastic,......I found a 202 somebody threw away and I put the guts from the under caster in it and its still going today. My advise is find a type of reel that works,......and get it with a version where every part is metal.
@fishingtalesandotherlies3 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I try to avoid reels with too much or plastic parts.

The Shakespeare spin casting reels all seem to have defective thumb buttons that break.

Yes, I noticed that too.

My wife has a spinning reel, but my spincast reel works much better, because its a good reel. Problem is so many spincast reels are just junk. Get a 3 bearing or more reel and you are good to go!

actually you can get spincasting reels that can hold up to 25 lb line now the zebco 808 and zebco 888 are perfect examples of this.
@fishingtalesandotherlies Жыл бұрын
I have one that holds 10 lb test. I find it a bit cumbersome, to be honest.
@mch.l.trecords9169 Жыл бұрын
@@fishingtalesandotherlies yeah the zebco 808 and zebco 888 can either hold 145 yards of 20 lb test or 110 yards of 25 lb test though so they're definitely not only for smaller poundages is anymore.

@@fishingtalesandotherlies on a baitcaster you wont get a backlash if you can use your thumb correctly
@fishingtalesandotherlies4 жыл бұрын
On a baitcaster, that's right. But it does take a little practice to use one properly. You don't need your thumb on a spincasting reel, except to push the reel release button.
@matthewcavrich94684 жыл бұрын
Hold ur index at the hole ur line comes out as u reel in. Itll prevent muck and tangles from getting inside
@cormacmccarthy15593 жыл бұрын
Not good for big fish huh? Fishing at night for Brown Trout Zebco is what I use. Smooth drag! Good luck with tangles at night with anything else.
