Y’all.. I remember Sushmita Sen…. Because I was a kid in the 90s in the Philippines. Ask any millennial out there who grew up up in the Philippines. They still know her name. It was amazing. Her name was on everyone’s lips for practically a month. Because Colombia & Venezuela always won. she was the underdog, the dark horse. I remember the screams & jumping from fellow kids at the nearby house (rich family who would open their door/windows so the neighborhood kids who didn’t have a TV at home could watch it). They didn’t come to our house because we still had the black & white one 😂 (we didn’t have color TV until I was around 10 or 11)
