In the latest Maria Zeee interview (What is Truth? Discernment in the last days), Fr. Peter mentioned that heresies in the church are likened to evil thoughts in our inner life. St. Theophan the Recluse says a similar thing in his reflections for Fifth week after Pentecost - Tuesday (p. 143 in St. Herman's publication). "The tares in the Church are heresies and schisms, while in each of us they are bad thoughts, feelings, desires, and passions."

I was just thinking about this and speaking to my wife about this. There are implications that our tiny human bubbles cannot perceive and which may therefore take hundreds of years to fully play out, as we see in the dialogue between St. Gregory Palamas and a Barlaamite. I also noticed this recently looking at the Hagia Eirene next to the Hagia Sophia, which I didn’t remember about, but when I saw the inside I was gut-wrenched to see what iconoclasm did to that place. For so many reasons I started to see why iconoclasm is a heresy, and so much of theology in the world is just empty talk from men who are desperate for the truth but have nothing of the Spirit of God in them, like myself. (Less and less, by God’s grace) I’m getting to where I don’t even want to listen to someone’s opinion unless they are a saint or an elder or a clergy or at LEAST an Orthodox Christian with a few years of experience in the faith.

Those who bring strife into the church I refer to as Corinthians. That's because Paul faced members of that church who argued among themselves and caused division.

All is true & well, one puzzles many of us is, why the priests avoid telling in his sermons the truth about the world situation to help open our eyes instead of learning from the false media which is so destructive to our minds & souls. We believe , it is the duty of the priests to inform the truth of what is going worldwide & awake the parish to reality & latter have sessions to talk about these so imp 4:31 ortant subjects & to prepare & aware of the truth, to open even deeper Their Spiritual awareness & not Live in their oun confused World without sound direction from the church. The truth must be told especially from the church. Regardless of the Liberal or left side Heirarchs believe. We are supposed to be led to the light & not kept in the darkness.

@@mariatsapos1766the temptation, as Fr. was teaching, is to try to find truth/information/reason before the nous is purified. Parish life is about that, not the other. That’s what I understood, and, looking back over 30 years in the Church, seems to be what I’ve seen played out.

I have spent many bible studies contemplating protestantism and our culture today. One of the conclusions I've come to is that our 'woke' citizens are born out of the Reformation. When Martin Luther, Zwingli, Calvin, and numerous others decided that they could redefine the truth, it opened the door to get us to where we are today. When we decided that we are more than clay on the Potter's Wheel, we lost our way. The modern feminist's movement has not made our culture better, but worse and, as a whole, we're all further from God. My heart sways back and forth at frustration with the Protestants of today. I know many of them love our Lord but they deny the entire truth by not accepting it as a whole. I feel mad because they deny themselves receiving our Lord every Liturgy. I'm resolved to pray over it but hold back my anger. Just think, had Luther known of, or researched, the true church, we might not be here today. I've actually read his early work and don't disagree that there were numerous errors being committed. But to break away entirely was also an error.

@21:48 to 21:53 "My family's from Holland. They were in the Dutch Resistance [In WWII]. I'm still very proud of that." Thanks to the actions of men like him there are Mosques and Pride Parades all over the Netherland. And they grow more numerous by the day. Boomers waste our time with ineffective Reactionary Conservatism and "theorycel" escapism. They will never do and say the hard things that need to be done and said. Their young will suffer for this, not them. That's their legacy.

That t remark is incoherent to anything in this video. I’m down with critiquing “Boomers” as a group-philosophy. And down with some critique the West allowed the experience of war to undermine itself. But the rest…nah

The what arguments?
@Mr.C-you-later5 ай бұрын
@@littlefishbigmountain the old calendarist have legitimate arguments as to how and why the new calendar was implemented. They've gone a bit far calling all new calendar Orthodox heretics, but they are correct on the history. They are also correct in pointing out there are no miracles on the new calendar. The miracle of the Holy Fire follows the old calendar. They also have a far point on cannon 15 of the first/second council, or the 8th ecumenical council.

To which TO and which GO? There are many separate synods with various stances who adopt an ecumenistic ecclesiology in their approach with one another. Ironically, all you have to do to be "with them" is to be opposed to ecumenism.
@bennitok55295 ай бұрын
who/what is TO and GO?
@JettWatson245 ай бұрын
@@Justin_VaughanWell it’s quite different because the vast majority of these different synods still hold the same Orthodox Faith. The ecumenists want to unite with other groups who hold to a completely different faith (groups who have been anathematized for centuries). In no way am I saying that the schisms among the TOs are a good thing. We have schisms in WO all the time but both sides of the schisms still recognize each other as part of the Church.
